Anora star Mikey Madison had a fantastic weekend; not just because she wore two fairly great looks in a row, but also (arguably more importantly), she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress, completely throwing the Oscars outcome – and conventional wisdom – up in the air. We stan a chaos queen who can do all of that without breaking a sweat.

We like this. We can see certain critiques, such as the waist being a bit high or the straps a bit insubstantial. And there’s a bit of a boutique hotel wallpaper vibe with that textile. So stipulated. But it’s just so nice to see her get away from the strict red/black/white color story she’s imposed on herself while out promoting this project. There’s a warmth and softness to it that she hasn’t had a lot of opportunities to work of late. We might have liked a different sort of top, but what this look really needs is a pair of bronze metallic pumps.

This is lovely. Her own coloring is dramatic, so the rather bland neutral tends to work well for her. Same goes for the minimalism. It’s all just a very clean, elegant look to which she’s particularly well suited. For once, we don’t feel that an all-neutral look needs some sort of contrast or color. What can we say? It just works. She’s got the perfect look for that “baddie being elegant” vibe. We just don’t like that sandal. That’s the one area where we think a gold metallic, with a less sporty-looking strap, was called for.
