It feels like The Room Next Door has cycled out of the awards conversation, but stars Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore are still out here on these streets, serving gowns and hosting screenings, like a pair of chic salt and pepper shakers.
On the other hand, these ensembles have the distinct whiff of “giving up.” But who knows? We’ve been doing this long enough to know that red carpets are very handy tools for promotion, but they don’t exactly make the best tools for prediction. Still, there’s something about workmanlike about these choices; very much giving a “threw this on” vibe. We don’t mind Julianne’s, although the white does nothing for her. Pope Tilda is fulfilling her Chanel obligations, but as with almost all of the house’s offerings, this just doesn’t look like her style to us.
