Bello Gio’s Restaurant – Amsterdam, Netherlands
The bad news is that it’s MONDAY. The good news is that no one expects you to do any work this week. The even BETTER news is that our vacation starts in four days, but that’s only good news for us. Anyway, settle in, darlings. We have a few things to show you today in between the arguments we plan to have about who gets which suitcase this time.
A Freewheelin’ Conversation With Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro
‘A Complete Unknown’ stars — and director James Mangold — on channeling Bob Dylan, surviving sudden fame and the pitfalls of working with your rock idols.
If there was any doubt as to how Bob Dylan feels about Timothée Chalamet playing him in A Complete Unknown, it ended on Dec. 4, when the 83-year-old Nobel Prize-winning legend declared on X, “Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”
Whichever version Chalamet conjures up — and it’s really a combination of all three — will not lack for preparation. The superstar actor, 28, has immersed himself in all things Dylan since first attaching himself to the project in 2019.
In the intervening five years (there were delays because of COVID-19 and the Hollywood strikes), Chalamet taught himself to play guitar and sing as Dylan. Which he does in Unknown — to revelatory effect. The Searchlight Pictures film leans heavily on Dylan’s repertoire, with Chalamet interpreting entire classics like “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Times They Are A-Changin’ ” and “Like a Rolling Stone.”
What I Learned Visiting the Set of Netflix’s One Hundred Years of Solitude
The first time I heard the term “production values” was in a film class in college: My brilliant professor was talking about how, whether you liked a film or not, its production value was undeniable. I liked the sound of it, and I liked starting to see films from that point of view. (I’ll sum it up by saying that you can identify production value in a movie or television series’s costumes, scenery, photography, lighting, music—in other words, everything that has nothing to do with the script, the story, or the performances.)
If someone had told me in that college class that a few years later, I would be preparing to travel to Colombia to see where a small-screen adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude was being filmed, I honestly would not have believed it.
How Maria Recreated Maria Callas’s Paris Apartment
The film also filmed scenes on the actual yacht where La Divina and Aristotle Onassis cruised.
“There was a lot of research,” says Guy Hendrix Dyas, the film’s production designer. “Pablo’s style has evolved into this very interesting storytelling technique: he will quite happily dance between fantasy and reality, so for me it was a dream because I got both sides of the coin.”
That mean diving into books and magazines that had features Callas—she and her homes, Hendrix Dyas says, made regular appearances in Paris Match—as well as getting to know more about who she was and how she lived. “We went to the Maria Callus Foundation in Paris and sifted through her personal letters and her artifacts,” he says. “It was amazing to hold letters that she had written to Aristotle Onassis in my hand.”
Troye Sivan Is Ready For His Close-Up
The singer on doing his own make-up on tour, his unconventional bath ritual and using beauty as a tool for bonding and grounding.
Troye Sivan is the vision of joie de vivre in a bright tangerine jumper worn casually over a beaded top, a joyful antidote against a blustery grey afternoon in London. We’re meeting at the Hotel Café Royal, where Sivan’s been spending his morning at the gym and dips in the pool to ward off his jet lag.
The 29-year old has had quite the year: he performed his Something To Give Each Other tour, joined Charli XCX on her epic Sweat stage, starred alongside Lily Rose-Depp in The Idol, inspired an SNL skit (Sivan was played by Timothée Chalamet, naturally), and is now the face of Rabanne Makeup.

39 short hairstyles for thick hair if you’re considering the chop
Pass. The. Scissors.
Considering a ballsy chop? We love the energy. But to best tailor it to you, it’s worth bringing your hair texture into the equation.
Short hairstyles for thick hair can look phenomenal. With the length hiked up around face height, thick hair gets the spotlight it deserves – especially if you’re making a feature out of those full, chunky ends.
But, as much as thick hair can give enviable volume, it can require a little pruning to avoid things looking boxy or heavy, so we asked top hairstylists for their insider advice.
I tried the cognitive shuffling sleep technique, and now I fall asleep in three minutes
I put it to the test for two months.
For most of my life, I slept soundly the moment my head hit the pillow. Ever since I moved countries over a year ago, things changed. Sleep didn’t come as easily.
Despite feeling adequately tired by bedtime, I’d lie awake, my mind racing with worries about work or conjuring up hypothetical scenarios about my loved ones’ safety, who were suddenly an ocean away. Adjusting to the strangeness of sleeping in a brand-new place didn’t help either. Most nights, it took me at least an hour, sometimes more, to nod off.
How to spend 10 days in Mauritius, the perfect couples’ destination
Take it from me, I got engaged there.
When I finally visited Mauritius earlier this year, after many years spent at the top of my travel bucket list, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. White-sand beaches and bright blue waters teeming with marine life; a renowned cuisine influenced by the island’s many cultures; rolling forests and towering mountains steeped in history, begging to be explored.
What I didn’t expect was that Mauritius would also be the place where I got engaged.
The Day of the Jackal season 2 release date, plot and cast news so far
We have good news and bad news.
The Day of the Jackal’s first season has come to an insanely dramatic conclusion, with the show’s finale airing on 12 December. And though we’re perhaps getting a little ahead of ourselves, with the end of season 1 finally upon us, we can’t help but find ourselves wondering: when can we expect The Day of the Jackal season 2 to arrive on our screens?
A reimagining of the 1973 film starring Edward Fox, The Day of the Jackal sees Eddie Redmayne take on the role of internationally renowned assassin ‘The Jackal’ who shape shifts using countless aliases and disguises in a bid to escape the pursuit of MI6 agent Bianca Pullman (Lashana Lynch) as she chases him through Europe.
Needless to say, the 10 episode season made for some incredibly tense watching. So when will we be getting The Day of the Jackal season 2 and what do we know about it so far?
The No Good Deed cast and where you’ve seen them before
Here’s where you recognise the stars of the new Netflix show from.
Netflix’s new TV series No Good Deed is a riot of fun, seeing different couples battle it out to buy an LA villa. But there’s more than you might think going on beneath the surface, for the competing couples and the people who are looking to sell.
The No Good Deed cast is pretty stellar, including Friends star Lisa Kudrow and Scooby-Doo actor Linda Cardellini. No Good Deed was also created by Liz Feldman, the woman responsible for Dead To Me, which Cardellini also starred in with Christina Applegate.
Here’s a full run down of the No Good Deed cast, including where you might have seen them before.
46 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025
Get excited for new projects from Bong Joon Ho, Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson, Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, and Celine Song.
Several of the best movies of 2025 may still be complete unknowns. They could be titles that will be acquired at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice—or under-the-radar gems that will derive their power from unpredictable word of mouth. But several of the biggest movies of the year will definitely be found on this list, which focuses on studio films either dated for 2025 or scheduled to appear at some yet-to-be-disclosed point in the next 12 months.
And what a list it is, stacked with work from several of the industry’s most reliable auteurs—Bong Joon Ho, Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson, Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Celine Song, Yorgos Lanthimos, Maggie Gyllenhaal—as well as the usual superhero movies and brand extensions. Hell, even some of those look more interesting than usual: We’re going to see James Gunn step up to the plate with a reimagined Superman; Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn suit up for a new, hopefully more successful take on the Fantastic Four; and James Cameron returns to the world of Avatar. All that, and there’s a whole new Wicked coming in November? Truly, it’s an embarrassment of riches even before you get to Jeremy Allen White doing his best Bruce Springsteen impression.
The Best Christmas Films On Netflix: 26 Festive Movies To Watch Before December 25
Can you get through them all before Christmas Day arrives?
Christmas films have a special way of instantly filling even the Grinchiest of hearts with a much-needed dose of festive cheer.
Some of the best holiday memories have been made while watching feel-good romcoms and tearjerkers set over Christmas, celebrating family, love, friendship, and, of course, the occasional mince pie. And when it comes to cornering the market, it’s all about the Netflix Christmas films.
While timeless classics like Love Actually, The Holiday, and Klaus always hold a special place, some unexpected gems—thanks to their all-star casts and delightfully cheesy plots—have also won us over this year. Think Jack Frost and Holidate.
With the festive season in full swing, it’s only right to get stuck into a good set of Christmas films. So, from now until the end of December, we’ll be ready to curl up with a mulled wine and binge our favorite Christmas flicks. Here are a few of the best Christmas films on Netflix, all available now.
18 Years Later, Everyone’s Extremely Hot For Jude Law In The Holiday Again
You’ve perhaps seen the TikToks. Women, tucked up on their sofas with a box of Quality Street and a large glass of Malbec, settling in for their annual viewing of The Holiday (or maybe their first ever watch if they’re disgustingly young), suddenly overwhelmed by lust. Not just any lust, though. A very specific kind of longing, directed squarely at Jude Law’s character, Graham.
Yes, that Graham. Rosy-cheeked, sweater-clad, and nearly always bathed in the kind of soft, golden light that suggests he is a Very Good Man™. Nearly two decades after Nancy Meyers’s festive romcom hit screens, the character’s found himself as the epicentre of online thirst for autumn/winter 2024.
Everything I Wish I Knew Before Getting Hair Extensions
From types to cost to whether or not they’re worth it
Long, voluminous hair is no longer a pipe dream. Thanks to hair extensions, anyone can now have long hair.
As a beauty editor, I’m constantly confronted with the sight of beautiful, overlong Rapunzel manes. So much so that I started to think, What works for stars like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian must work for me too. Right?
“Extensions used to be seen as artificial, but that has changed,” says hair and makeup expert Armin Morbach. “Extensions are no longer just a trend, but an integral part of modern hair care and styling. They provide instant volume and are ubiquitous, especially among celebrities.”
5 Brushing Teeth Mistakes You’re Probably Making, According to a Dentist and Dental Hygienist
We bet you’re guilty of at least one.
Toothbrushes are an essential part of our daily routines, but brushing teeth mistakes are much more common than you think. From a young age we are taught to brush our teeth in the morning for fresh breath and before bed to prevent cavities. But other than going to a bi-annual dentist appointment, we don’t receive much feedback about this thing that we do so often.

Holiday traditions around the world may vary, but the one thing most cultures share is imbibing to get into the festive spirit. This Foolproof Technique Is the Key to Flawless Cheesecakes
For a perfect cheesecake or crème brûlée, draw a bath.
It’s beyond disappointing when you pull a cheesecake out of the oven and find a crack on top the size of the San Andreas Fault. Or when you dip a spoon into your crème brûlée, and find the custard curdled rather than delightfully creamy. Luckily, there’s a two-step technique that ensures even cooking for the most finicky of foods: a water bath.
Hot Dr Pepper Is the Retro Holiday Drink You Need to Know About
And you can even make it in a Crock-Pot.
The joy of writing about digital food culture is that every week — for better or for worse — I learn something unexpected. And my most recent discovery is a new-to-me beverage that I’m now skeptically optimistic about: hot Dr Pepper.
This warming drink was introduced to me through a viral video from Instagram user @morganchomps, which has now racked up more than two million views. Morgan makes hot Dr Pepper in her Crock-Pot, and the beverage is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: Dr Pepper soda that’s been heated up, with only one addition — sliced lemons.
Seth Rogen Launched a Flavored Sparkling Water — and You Can Probably Guess What’s in It
We’ve got nothing but high praises for his new product.
Very few celebrities know how to embrace their personal brand quite like Seth Rogen. Ever since Freaks and Geeks and Pineapple Express, the actor and filmmaker has had a reputation for loving a certain leafy green plant. In 2019, he went all in — Rogen blended his passion for cannabis with his hobby for ceramics to launch Houseplant, a lifestyle brand with beautifully designed, artisanal weed paraphernalia. (Think: ashtrays, grinders, and rolling sets.) Houseplant’s products have all been about function and design — removing the negative stigma behind cannabis culture — and now, it’s also about hydration.

Why Not Tell Someone They Look Great Today?
Don’t underestimate the simple power of complimenting a stranger.
One Monday morning a couple of weeks ago, I was riding the downtown local train to work when I noticed a woman slightly farther down the car in a perfect outfit. It wasn’t that there was anything showy about it — if memory serves, she wore green trousers, a button-down shirt, Mary Janes and a cropped tweed jacket — but the proportions were perfect. The ensemble had clearly been put together with thought and care.
I chose my moment — two stops from my destination, in case things got awkward — and made my move.
“Excuse me,” I said. She looked appropriately wary. “I just have to say: I love your whole look.”
The 10 best songs of 2024
From swaggering pop-girl anthems to the tightest diss track this century, here is the music that made our year.
If 2024 had a musical narrative, it was pop’s total domination — specifically, the pop girlies’ domination. A former Disney star introduced her new super-femme persona — a winking bombshell who boasted that she was so addictively hot, she’d turned her lover into an insomniac — and became a hitmaker. British singer Charli XCX had her own pop breakthrough, charging from the cult-fave margins straight into our feeds (and brains), leaving a trail of lime-green chaos in her wake. And we witnessed the rise (and rise and rise) of a certain outspoken Midwest phenom, who stole our hearts and reminded us of pop’s endless possibilities. Songs from all these ladies have landed on the list below, along with a banger about a panic attack, a diss track for the ages, and so much more.
Daniel Craig got jittery rolling around naked in coffee grounds in Queer: ‘You can absorb it through your skin’
And Jesse Eisenberg joked that now he wants to try it: “Maybe I should just take a little walk in it.”
Daniel Craig has discovered an alternative to his usual morning cuppa joe.
The actor recalled learning of the bizarre new method of caffeine consumption while discussing his latest film, Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, recently.
“There’s a sequence where we do a dance — I won’t give the game away, but there’s a dance in the movie,” Craig said, beginning to explain what happened on Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show. “We were doing it outside on the backlot, and it was just ground — it was gravel — and we had to sort of roll around for two nights. I was like, ‘We’re gonna get cut to pieces.’ We’re naked in the scene.”

How Often to Wash Pillows, According to Laundry Experts
Your bed and throw pillows will last longer when they’re properly cared for.
While you may wash your pillowcases weekly, when was the last time you washed your pillows? Bed and throw pillows shouldn’t be neglected, as they are susceptible to a buildup of bacteria, oil, skin cells, and dust, just like other pieces of bedding. It’s true that you don’t need to wash pillows as frequently as sheets and pillowcases, but the occasional wash will extend longevity and improve your home’s environment. To ensure your pillows are being cleaned frequently enough, we spoke to cleaning experts who shared how often you should wash them.
The Difference Between Cookie Sheets and Baking Sheets—and When to Use Each
When to choose one pan over the other and when you can use either one.
When it comes to bakeware, the terminology can be confusing. Some call the pans they use to bake cookies a cookie sheet while others refer to it as a baking sheet. Are these just different words for the same thing or are there indeed differences? And why do some recipes call for specific types of pans, such as aluminum, nonstick, glass, insulated, black steel, or heavy gauge and others make no specifications?
We have broken down the terms for you and tell you how these pans measure up and which type you should use for your cookies, biscuits, and scones. Knowing the differences between the different types of bakeware will give you a culinary advantage.
