Mothers and daughters. Tina Knowles was a recipient of the Glamour Woman of the Year award and her red carpet-shy somewhat well-known daughter Beyoncé came out for the occasion. She brought along her somewhat well-known friend Kelly Rowland for the occassions. Kelly and Bey really don’t do the red carpet all that much if they can avoid it, so these pictures tend to have a bit of a rag-tag quality to them, but we think you can get the gist of what everybody’s serving here. Glamour, of course. What else?

It’s genuinely impossible to tell from these pictures if Kelly’s wearing a gown, a skirt and a top, or a pair of pants and a top. All we can say is that her hair and makeup look great, the girls are sitting perfectly, and she looks fabulous in a gold and black combo.

This has got the pseudo-cartoony style that she seems to favor. We think it’s possible to sport the same shade of yellow in a bunch of different textiles and finishes, but we tend to think this combination looks a little tortured. The coat is gorgeous, but we think something that offered a higher contrast with the yellows would have been a good idea.

We’ve gotta say, Mama might just have won this one. We’ll never love giant body bows or overly twisted fabric, but we like the juxtaposition of the overwrought top with a somewhat sensible pair of pants. We’d probably hate it if it was a gown, but this has an appealing tension to it.
