San Sebastian Film Festival Style File: Cate Blanchett at the RUMOURS Photo Call and Premiere

Good Lady Cate came to the San Sebastian Film Festival to pick up the Donostia Award and also to premiere her goofy new film Rumours. She got all fancy for the latter occasion, but kept things pretty cazh for the photo call.

The Good Lady has been on a bit of a denim kick these past few months. While we can’t say we’ve loved every iteration of this slouchy, ’70s-esque fits of these looks, they’re surprisingly well suited to her, right down to the those clodhoppers. It’s a fun and easy day look that takes a great picture. It stands out from the normal actressy fare. It’s not our favorite style, but she wears it well.

From there, she took a somewhat surprising turn toward the ’80s. This all feels just a little grandiose, but she was receiving an award, so it makes a certain amount of sense to show up looking like a winner. Unfortunately, this is giving “princess” more than “champion” and that’s not a style that really suits her. It’s a pretty gown, but it feels weird for her.
