Danai Gurira and Kerry Washington wore very cute, very appropriate looks to the US Open, although we have some nitpicky quibbles about the accessorizing.

This is such a cute look. We might suggest that it’s perhaps a little overstyled – the bag comes off formal and the sandals, while fabulous, tend to pull focus – but that’s a nitpicky complaint. The truth is that we like all of the items she’s sporting, even if we don’t think it was necessary to sport them all at once. The dress looks great on her. Given the setting, we’re not going to get judgy about the button gaps, although she might’ve done herself a favor by undoing a couple.

Ma’am, you had us a hundred percent until we got to the shoes, which then led our eyes to the bag, the combination of which is compelling us to declare that you got this one wrong. Really cute outfit; perfect, really. No notes regarding any of the clothing. But those business-like pumps and that rather formal and rigid bag just don’t go with the vibe of the outfit. The belt doesn’t bother us, but we suspect it was the launching point for the matching accessories. Ironically, both the shoes and the bag would’ve looked great with the outfit she wore on GMA the other day. This look called for kicks, sandals, or espadrilles.
