There may not have been much in the way of red carpetry over the holiday weekend, but true aficionados of self-promotion know that such times make the perfect opportunity to get yourself out there in front of cameras, when everyone’s looking for a shot of an A-lister to sell. Jennifer Lopez had herself a lovely Ben-less weekend in the Hamptons, where she spent her time modeling Ralph Lauren fashions to the paps. Let’s assess!

This somehow manages to be both cute and terrible at the same time. As mumsy little prairie frocks go, it’s cute. Sort of. But the design is entirely too precious for our tastes and the style doesn’t suit her at all. Just look at those platforms peeking out. There’s your J Lo. The rest of it is way too tradwife for her.

This one feels much more like her. We love how each of these sets has one shot where she looks annoyed at the paps and one where she looks secretly pleased by the attention. In case you couldn’t tell she was modeling for Ralph Lauren, she helpfully sported the biggest logo she could find.

Three things you can bank on when J Lo’s parading in front of the paps: hoops, a killer pair of shades, and sometimes, a goofy little hat. The outfit’s fine, but the bag is really cute.

Goofy hat aside, this is the cutest of all the looks she sported this weekend. It’s got a little bit of that J Lo style to it, but it’s mostly just relaxed and summer-casual chic.
