A close collaborator of Elsa Schiaparelli, a famous surrealist imagined with her some of the iconic surrealist pieces that would go down in fashion history. Obsessed with the lobster, he used this pattern in the creation of the famous lobster dress from the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Summer 1937 collection. The dress was immortalized on Wallis Simpson, the no less famous wife of the Duke of Windsor, by photographer Cecil Beaton in a report for Vogue. This crustacean with its thinly veiled sexual symbolism again inspired Daniel Roseberry a few decades later, who used the lobster pattern on an ecru jersey skirt decorated with a tonal 3D lobster embroidery on the front, and on a handmade gold ceramic necklace.

Schiaparelli handmade lobster necklace in gilded ceramic inspired by the season’s nautical theme and the Maison’s archives. Yea or nay, darlings?
