No American designer attracts more ladystars to his front row than the Mayor of New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors. As we said about the Ralph Lauren show, when your whole brand is based on classic, often universally flattering styles, you tend to attract the pretty people who worry about how they look in pictures. This is why, as red carpet bloggers, we often find ourselves giving somewhat conventional advice to floundering stars. Edgy or trendy fashion is fun, but most stars just want to wear the easy stuff and look good in pictures.
Anitta
Having said that, we wouldn’t say that Kors is basic or generic in style. This is kind of great.
Ariana DeBose
This is fun, even though we hate fringe and find that beigey taupe underwhelming. The python accessories really don’t go.
Blake Lively
This is kind of fun, but the length of those pants is insane and we don’t like the belt.
Camila Alves McConaughey
Mr. Kors loves himself an animal print. We can’t say we’re digging the shape here.
Ellen Pompeo
Oof, no. Not the carwash skirt. It may be considered a classic by some people, but we will never love them. And it looks odd rendered in this businesslike style.
Halle Berry
We don’t love the skirt, but we can’t argue with the look.
Hayley Atwell
We applaud her ability to not sweat. Nice outfit.
Jane Krakowski
Lots of tricky skirts on the gals this year. Despite our dislike of the tricky skirt and our opinion that Kors goes to the animal print well too often, we think she looks pretty great in this.
Jenna Dewan
Whereas this just feels like too much.
Jesse Williams
He looks like he’s cosplaying as Michael Kors.
Kaitlyn Dever
A little too nighttime for the setting while also being a little too generic for it. That’s almost impressive.
Kelsea Ballerini
Cute.
Molly Gordon
That’s too much brown, fringe and carwash for us.
Nicky Hilton
Meh. It’s fine.
Nicole Ari Parker
How she didn’t pass out from the heat is a mystery, but we thank her for making the sacrifice, because she looks great.
Olivia Wilde
Seriously, well done on the totally unseasonal outerwear front. You all look fresh as daisies. Mere mortals would be wilting. This is a great look.
Rita Ora
It’s fine. It suits her.
Vanessa Hudgens
Again, too much brown, suede and turtleneck for us to get completely on board, but we can’t deny she looks pretty great.
