Established by Nelly Hagan Deegbe in 2011, Ghanaian design label Duaba Serwa is characterized by its sophisticated aesthetic, with richly textural details, including the brand’s signature origami pleat, bold colors, rich textiles and an overall feel of luxurious modernity. The brand works with women in Ghana and Burkina Faso to create the textiles, in order to “keep traditional weaving techniques that are becoming extinct, alive through our collections.”
“We believe we are on the cusp of generally appreciating fashion not only as art but as a way of life and gathering the prerequisites to establish a scene of our own,” their site declares. We believe they’re well on their way. These pieces are gorgeously unique and eye-catchingly modern. It all feels very “what’s next.”
