Time to start wrapping our Met Gala coverage up in a big satin bow and calling it done, wouldn’t you say? If you need to catch up an things, you can click here for all of the judging.
Allison Williams in Patou
It’s not exactly reinventing the wheel, and there’s a good argument for it being a pretty stale design, but it honestly looks great on her and it was nice to see a pop of bold color in a sea of colorless looks. The headband is a no, however.
Amanda Seyfried in Oscar de la Renta
We’ll harrumph and say that it’s not formal enough for the Met Gala but we’ll also note that she looks insanely hot.
Anitta in Marc Jacobs
Too basic. The shoes don’t work.
Cara Delevingne in Karl Lagerfeld
It’s a mild form of Karl cosplay, but she makes it look more chic and formal than it is.
Daisy Edgar-Jones in Gucci
It’s an okay design, but she’s understyled. Where are the gems, girls?
Emily Bunt in Michael Kors
We suspect that this was meant to be seen as a femme take on Karl’s own style, but it doesn’t work for us. The elements are too disparate or poorly matched. That bow looks terrible.
Halle Bailey in Gucci
Just pure old school glam. She looks amazing.
Julia Garner in Gucci
This is dramatically gorgeous, with impeccable detailing. That lining is to-die.
Kendall Jenner in Marc Jacobs
It’s a little goofy, but it suits her pretty well. The boots make the look. The nude hose looks costumey.
Kerry Washington in Michael Kors
It’s fine. That’s about it.
Lea Michele in Michael Kors
Also fine, but it’s the closest to pure Barbra drag she’s ever gotten.
Letitia Wright in Prada
There’s nothing wrong with a standard tux at the Met Gala, although it remains a fairly dull choice no matter who’s wearing it. The shirt collar is fun, but the bag and shoes give it all a businesslike vibe that feels out of place.
Marion Cotillard in Chanel Couture
We’re gonna be honest with you, Marion. You look a little crazy here.
Mary J. Blige in Burberry
This is the first use of that Burberry royal blue that we’ve really liked. The boots are spectacular. The dress is too tight.
Olivia Wilde in Chloé
This is based on a classic Lagerfeld design for Chloe, but the original was a black dress and we think the violin element looked better against it. This looks like sexy vestments.
Penélope Cruz in Chanel Couture
It takes some nerve to wear a full-on bridal getup for an event that isn’t your wedding, but this is such a stunning design and she has the bearing to pull it off and present it as a tribute.
Phoebe Bridgers in Tory Burch
It’s low-key elegant and works very prettily with her looks.
Salma Hayek in Gucci
Once Salma realized she’s got the money and the time to ensure the very best fits in the world, her style improved dramatically. Granted, the bust is a little tight here. but the overall effect is gorgeous and hot. That red looks amazing on her.
Serena Williams in Gucci
We really like this, but we think the bottom should be black.
Sydney Sweeney in Miu Miu
It a pretty gown that looks hot on her, but that’s a very dumb place for a bow.
Yara Shahidi in Jean Paul Gaultier
This is a really interesting, challenging design and we appreciate her choosing it. We love the bodice but the color of the bottom half is terrible.
