Love her style or hate it, but one thing you can’t say about Florence Pugh’s approach to fashion is that it’s boring. The Valentino ambassador and star of the upcoming Dune: Part Two got her Princess Irulan cosplay on for the Met Gala. The results are typically Florence: impossible to ignore, hard to forget, and worth some discussion, if only to point out the flaws.
We love the shaved head and the insane crown, although we think the design could’ve brought the height of it down to a more manageable size. It slipped off her head before she even reached the stairs. Still, it’s a dramatically unique element. We just wish the dress were up to its level. While the sweep of the massive skirt is Met Gala-appropriate, the design of the bust and bodice is awful. It makes her boobs look like they’re heading in opposite directions, and distorts her shape. The somewhat sloppily tied bow coordinates terribly with the headpiece. It just doesn’t look like those two elements should be worn at the same time, if that makes any sense.
