Kittens, we just don’t know anymore. There shouldn’t be any reason why Penelope Cruz can’t make a collaboration with the House of Chanel work, but for some reason, the results underwhelm us nine times out of ten.
This isn’t terrible by any stretch. Sure, that sleeve design is a series of bad ideas from shoulder to cuff, but the basic design and style of the frock isn’t a tough one to pull off. The Tribeca Festival is a little all over the map when it comes to the red carpet dress code, so the slightly low-key face and hair aren’t wrong for the occasion so much as they’re wrong for what she’s wearing. Once you commit to wearing the glitter dress and sport a diamond tiara around your neck, we tend to think you’re gonna need to get your hair and face up to its level. We think that tends to sum up why her Chanel-ing never seems to work for us. She’s not into it. Or she gives that impression, which amounts to the same thing.
