Chrissy Teigen is clearly thrilled beyond thrilled to be back on a red carpet. What’s funny is that you’d think John Legend was there to support her on her big night instead of the other way around.
It’s a sort of Scarlett O’Hara crossed with ’80s prom gown, which sounds terrible when we put it that way. There was a time when we might have rolled our eyes at the blatant look-at-me-ism of such a space-taking gown, but we’re in a post-lockdown period of outrageously exuberant fashion on the red carpet (not to mention a relentless trend for pink lately), so this feels very much of the moment. It’s fun. More important, she looks like she’s having a total blast wearing it. He looks great, but if anyone would have asked our opinion ahead of time, we’d have said his look feels too heavy and dark to be paired with her ladysplosion of a gown. That’s probably why nobody asks us about these things ahead of time.
