And just like that, 75% of your favorite brunch gals are back. Last week, Sarah Jessica Parker posted a somewhat eerily staged shot of her returning Sex and the City cast members Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in costume and on set. Reactions were swift:
I can accept that Carrie would still be walking NYC’s sidewalks in platform heels and Charlotte would do the same in a pencil skirt, but there’s no way in hell Miranda’s in white pants, pointy-toed flats & carrying a baguette. Where is our overalls-and-puffy-jacket queen? pic.twitter.com/GHP0XNNh0k

Today, she’s back on set with Davis, modeling all new looks that feel surprisingly off for the characters:
Legendary costume designer Patricia Field isn’t working with the cast this time (she’s off doing Emily in Paris at the moment) and her co-costumer on previous Sex and the City seasons/movies Molly Rogers is reported to be handling the details this time. We don’t envy the task because these characters have such distinct and iconic wardrobes that it may be hard for audiences to see them many decades later, when their individual styles would likely have changed. Having said that, it’s a little jarring to see Carrie look so conservative and Charlotte look so bold. The Burberry poop bag holder is extremely on point for her, but that bag looks more like something Carrie would’ve sported 25 years ago. Still, we have no idea where these characters are meant to be. For all we know, Carrie’s a Vogue editor and Charlotte went Boho in her middle age.
