Confession time: As innately fabulous as Angela Bassett is, we often think she misses with her style choices with about the same frequency that she nails them. Shocking admission, we know. And now we must go further into the land of hellish opinions: We’re not super-crazy about this look either.

Oh, it certainly dazzled us on the night of. And we wouldn’t claim she looks bad in it; not really. Purple looks great on her and we absolutely LOVE the braid. The jewelry choices were fun and appropriately sparkly and colorful for this style. But man, we really hate those feathers. Not so much the fact that they’re there, but the way that they’re placed. It seems designed to make her look hunchbacked on top and wider on the bottom. There’s just something about the way they’re executed into the design that feels random and half-finished. And of course it’s a shame that she’d opt for D&G since they’re such messy bitches. Sorry, Miss Angela. We wanted to, but we can’t love this one.
