We’ll say this about Lil Nas: that dude walks the damn walk. This is actually a pretty stunning look, taking it on its own terms. The floral and the leopard print are unexpected additions to this variation on formal westernwear, seeming to deliberately disrupt the form of white masculinity implied in the style. We love how the boots are a cowboy spin on white kicks. He just flat-out looks great in this.

Billy Ray is Billy Ray. Our first instinct was to ding him for not stepping up his look, but we think that would be misguided. The whole point of this collaboration was to prove that country was country and didn’t need to be changed to accept new members. If Lil Nas’s getup is to partially affirm his country bona fides, then Billy Ray’s total non-getup is a response that says “I’m country as fuck and this is no big deal.”
