GET IT, FLO.
US First Lady Michelle Obama attends the 2015 White House Correspondent’s Association Gala at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C. in a custom Zac Posen beaded gown.
This is just straight-up glamour. It’s likely that the image and role of the First Lady will never go back to its traditional one; especially if we start having First Gentlemen, or whatever it is we’ll decide to call the husbands of Presidents. Someday the history of Michelle’s style approach to the role will be written and we wonder if she’ll be celebrated for redefining the role or defined as one of the last of a line of hostess/charity/style/motherhood figureheads; the culmination of all the First Ladies of her type, going back to Jackie.
At any rate, our only quibble here is the belt/sash, which this didn’t need at all. We like the hairstyle on her, but it takes some getting used to. Is it us, or does it read somewhat mature? It seems more like a style for an older black woman, but that could be us making personal associations.
