Emma Stone in Lanvin at SAG Foundation Conversations: “Birdman”

Posted on January 07, 2015

It surprises us to say this, because we’ve complained in the past that she’s so inconsistent with her style that it’s hard to really say what her style is, but our first response to these pics was “How very Emma Stone.”

Which is to say it’s pretty and eye-catching; simple, with one focus-pulling detail, like a print or very saturated color.  So we suppose she actually does have an aesthetic and this look does a good job of embodying it. A sort of “urban ladylike.” It’s cute. It’s not setting us on fire, but she looks good and the skirt seems like a great choice for a public sit-down on a stage. The red soles are a bit distracting in this setting and we find ourselves wishing she hadn’t deployed them, though. Also, that’s some pretty bad hair. But we particularly like the necklace or neck detail or whatever it is she’s got going on there that the model doesn’t. It finishes the look nicely and gives it some freshness.
