Get in too close and it looks like a discordant mess, but from 10 feet away, it’s gorgeous. In some ways, it’s the perfect red carpet dress because it looks great in head-to-toe pictures. But those bows are just plain hiddy and that bodice is ridiculously over-shirred (it’s a word now, shut up). Even if we could overlook those things – and the rough edges, which we also don’t much like – we just don’t think that’s a very pretty lace. The color looks great on her, though. And it brings the drama. But the closeups kind of ruin the effect for us. Not as much as attending an event in a human rights nightmare like Dubai, but still.

Her face looks great and we love the earrings, but we tend to think, with this dress, her hair should be down.
