Taylor Schilling in Roland Mouret at “Orange Is The New Black” Panel Discussion

Posted on August 05, 2014

Sometimes, with some ladies, the simplest look possible is the right way to go.

Now, this is on the extreme end of the “simple” scale, but the color really helps it along. And it’s exactly the kind of look that suits someone like Taylor the best. We definitely think she can handle edgier looks than this, but she has a tendency to wander toward fussy looks that don’t suit her. Sleek lines and bold colors are her style brief and should remain so indefinitely. The contrasting shoes really work. We keep trying to mentally add jewelry but the combination of sleek lines and really vibrant colors means any embellishments will really stick out. We don’t think she needs another thing here.

Taylor Schilling’s Best is Diane Kruger’s half-assing it, it seems.

But she really does look good here. I like the details on the dress.

just as Leonard answered I am taken by surprise that a single mom can make $7907 in a few weeks on the internet . check my source ……………………. is.GD/RnTo2R

    • Jecca2244

I think she was her double in that helen of troy movie form years ago…

  • Personal Best.

    • makeityourself

I thought she was Amber Valetta for a micro-sec. But I remembered that Amber has a horrible bowl-cut now. Taylor needs to deploy the deep side-part more often.

  • Aidan B

Great look! LOVE that deep purple. That’s a dress I’d love to have in two or three colors for myself.

  • hughman

I wouldn’t have winced at seeing a big cocktail ring. Otherwise she’s really suited to this clean/Calvin Klein-ish style.

    • Gaah! Jinkx!

    • Leah Elzinga

or stud earrings, perhaps? Either way, her eyebrow game has me all squinty with envy.

    • jilly_d

Yes. A big-ass ring and a little hair zshuzshing and this would be a 10.

  • I wouldn’t mind a cocktail ring and a slightly stronger lip, but this damn close to perfect for her. Way to go, Other Tay.

  • Anna

Well done, Miss Lady. Love the colours.

  • gingerella

All of a sudden I envisioned her as a dark brunette, and WOW. That color is amazing on her with any hair color, though.

  • MilaXX

This look suits her well. The overly fussy doesn’t work on her.

    • Kent Roby

Yes, she wore a simple long black dress on the RC with Zak Efron for that movie they were in (pre-Orange); she looked terrific then too.

  • lecoffeeaddict

Ten bucks Taylor has migraine. You can spot one of us from a mile away; I can’t keep jewelry on to save my life.

  • Lisalady161

Tiny gold drop earrings, a wafer thin gold chain bracelet and a slightly darker lip. That would put her right up into to chic territory, IMO

  • Verascity

Wow, she’s really upping her game, though. This is probably the best I’ve seen from her.

  • Glam Dixie

Lovely and I’m glad she hemmed it, makes it more youthful.

  • The underdog combo of purple-red!

  • msdamselfly

NOt liking her makeup. Makes her look dull

  • PastryGoddess

She could use some earrings and/or a bracelet.

  • decormaven

Smart stylist! Shoe color nice play off Netflix logo color. Way to reemphasize the brand!

  • SewingSiren

Roland Mouret is the master of the fitted sheath. The knee length version is even more elegant.

  • FibonacciSequins

I like this done very simply. It’s all about the fit and color. Whoever matched the orange shoes to the purple dress knows what they’re doing.

  • SugarSnap108

Best I’ve ever seen her look. Love that color.

  • Love the colour combination, but a bracelet wouldn’t kill her.

  • PinkyK

  • Caaro3

    Soooo simple. And only $2400.

  • ashtangajunkie

Love this. My only nitpick is that I wish she had done her hair similar to the other day, when she wore the too-tight colour-blocked dress that she still managed to look pretty great in.

  • Sherilyne Cox

She needs a talented hair stylist. Taylor should just cut it off and throw away the evidence.

  • Dan_In_NYC

She should set the setting on her style barometer to Sharon Stone, and I think she will be OK.

  • marlie

I love this. The only thing I might add is a gold cuff or bangle, but she looks great.

  • She looked fantastic and really drew the eye during the whole group interview. Well played, Schilling.

  • MerBearStare

I *hate* purple and red together. It always reminds of the Love Connection.

  • OffToSeeHim

I like the shoes on the model better with the dress – that thick black strap added some drama, I thought.

  • bringbackbeatles

Love this color combo. I think a belt, even in the same color as the dress may have finished it off, but she still looks amazing here!

  • Dagney

Love this, but holy crap LOVE the makeup.

  • AutumnInNY

I was at this event last night and had the opportunity to see this look close up. Stunning! She rocked all of it. The color, the styling, hair/make-up all beautiful. Well done Taylor.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

I think there is one thing she needs. New hair. I guess she can’t have it because of her role on the show… But imagine how great she would look with a dark bob and bangs. Think about it after the show wraps, k Tay?

  • Judih1

I think stronger lipstick and a big clunky ring on her finger would make a big difference

  • GeoDiva

    Love the color!

  • evave2

I love the color. I haven’t seen this shade of purple (or anything near it) in a while and I like it very much. The dress is simple but the color POPS.

  • Dino Bonačić

I would love a gold/diamond cuff (ONE, NOT TWO MATCHY ONES!!) but all-in-all – it’s flawless!

  • demidaemon

This looks pretty perfect to me.

  • musi_

love it! was happy enough with the dress, scrolled down and the colour of the shoes completed me.

  • SistaT

She looks great. I think this might be her personal best. Fabulous color and I love the red shoes. Good job.

  • Kent Roby

This is the best we’ve seen her, other than her first appearance on this site with Zak Efron for that soldier romance movie premiere (that was before we knew who she was).

  • Samantha Klein

Ooooooooooooh, Roland Mouret. Someday, I shall own one of your dresses. Someday. (40th birthday present next year? Hmmm.)

  • NBG

The hair bugs. Looks like she hired a hard-working stylist and a lazy hairdresser.

  • MissFern

She also wore this on Conan which makes my love her for re-using a good look.

  • I do not like the color of the shoes with the dress. Too Red Hat Society.

  • vitaminC

Purple and red together? Gross. A navy or brighter blue shoe would have given contrast without the unfortunate “Too Close for Comfort” color scheme.

  • I love the color combo! Especially the color of the dress.

  • GinnyThePainter

Dress is really nice on her. But I’m distracted because she looks so much like Marcia Brady. Ow, my nose!

  • Violentcello

I can never see red and purple paired together without thinking of old ladies in red hats. I would have liked royal blue better. But she looks beautiful, especially her makeup.

  • fromanotherplanet

Aww she looks cute. Get it girl *two snaps and a twirl*

  • Melanie

    two words: cocktail. ring.

  • Hallelujah. I feel bad for her appearances most of the time since she get half of her elements wrong; but there is nothing to criticize here!
