Ben McKenzie on the Set of “Gotham”

Posted on August 01, 2014

We wouldn’t call these the most interesting on-set shots, but …

We knew we could get y’all with that last one. That set your ovaries aflutter, didn’t it?

We want to get excited about this show, but it looks more and more “Batman-y” with each glimpse. Not that we have anything against Batman or anything, but each new trailer looks less like a fresh take on an old genre and more like the same old same-old.

He will always be Ryan Atwood in my heart.

as Norman implied I am inspired that a mom able to get paid $5514 in one month on the computer . How ??? .. click FINANCIAL REPORT in ………. PAYRAP.ℭℴℳ

Agreed. “Whoever you want me to be.” Oh, shudder.

Damn, this is a good Sausage Friday.

      • Kristin McNamara

Mine too. But he growed up sooooo good.

      • Julie Chase

Oh yes. And he is aging QUITE nicely.

    • RussellH88

I really have no faith in this show. I wish it could be good, because it’s an interesting idea, but then they had to rename Poison Ivy and any potential faith I had died.

Plus, the idea of most of Batman’s Rogue Gallery being 10-20 years older than him seems kinda weird.

      • Dany

Hey, at least you have a Poison Ivy. Unlike Game of Thrones, where they decided to not announce the casting for my favorite female character from the books….who has her own Point of View chapters….ugh my heart

        • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

I want to say I’m holding out hope that she’ll be played by someone famous, and that’s why they’re delaying the announcement. I’m kind of deluding myself, though.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I’m hoping that they are saving her for the season after, since they are playing silly buggers with the timeline.

    • Anna

He didn’t do much for me as Ryan Atwood, but DAMN. Let me help you out of those wet clothes.

If the last shot had a puppy in it, the janitorial staff at my office would have a big problem.

I really enjoy the idea of him as Jim Gordon, mostly because he will grow up and be Gary Oldman.

Awww, Ben. I’m glad to see that he’s got a new project, and I’m crossing my fingers that this show is good.

    • Jacob Bowen

Where can I get myself one of these? You had me a the first photo TLo, but the last two sealed the deal…my internal clock sped up EVEN FASTER. Must have an adorable husband and children NOW!

ETA: I’m 23 and any reasonable 23 year old would say, “NO!”, but gosh cute men and young children is a DEADLY combination for me.

    • Janet B

      Aww, he’s cute.

    • Ashley Johnson

He looks older, but still hot :)

    • MilaXX

I’m just happy that so many of the actors from are finding work.

Still mad that, as campy as it was, Birds of Prey was cancelled before its time (never getting the full Harley Quinn).

      • sisterb67

OH MY GOD, I loved that show. I was so sorry it didn’t last.

    • VioletF.

Who the heck wears their police badge below the belt and to the left of their jewels?

      • sisterb67

The badge clip is a slightly odd shape (likely it would fit a “standard” shield better than the more compact one shown here) so it looks like it’s way below his belt because it sits lower on the clip. It is a little closer to center than normal, though…

    • Leslie Streeter

      He looks so good.

    • Lisalady161

That smiles with the little boy in the last pic cures a great many ills.

    • twocee

A nice way to kick off a Friday.

    • David

I attended Comic Con last week and got to attend the DC Comics panel where they showed the first episode for both “Gotham” and “Flash”. Both were good and came away very impressed with “Gotham”. Jada Pinckett Smith was actually quite good in her role on “Gotham”. I am planning on tuning in to both shows in the fall.

    • Kathy

I’ll give anything a try as long as Donal Logue is in it.

    • quiltrx

I’ve never seen him in anything (I went to IMDb and verified), but he’s pretty cute. Show sounds interesting but will probably be an extreme–quite good or quite bad.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

      He gives good Commish.

    • sisterb67

He looked good playing a patrol officer on Southland, he looks good playing the young James Gordon, methinks the lad was born to play law enforcement types.

      • Roger A. Sneed

I loved Southland, even when his character went full dickbag.

        • sisterb67

Seeing Sherman’s downward spiral was amazing, the young cop who does something stupid and then does a million other stupid things to cover up the first thing. Truth be told, I was in it for Michael Cudlitz, and came away surprised by how much I appreciated McKenzie (I was not in the target demographic for The O.C. so I hadn’t seen him).

He’s always had a Russell Crowe vibe for me, in a good way.

      • conniemd

Yes, and the good way shows in his really warm, sincere looking smile in the pic with the little boy. He looks very huggable, Russell Crowe looks unapproachable.

    • sk8tfan

Hot guy. In the rain. With adorable tot. All it needs is a puppy.

    • traceyishere

Very well tailored, esp for a cop.

    • Joanna B

I hope he wears a grey zip up hoodie and white tank in one of the episodes

    • evave2

Does this guy want to specialize in playing cops? Nothing the matter with specializing in playing cops (Dennis Franz in his farewell to Sipowicz interviews said he’d played something like 84 cops in his career; well, a little exaggerated, but you get my drift.) and if that’s where his Irish-looking pudding face leads him, ok by me. He is a cutie. I would discuss that he looks good and realistic and professional in his clothes. So there.

    • fursa_saida

At this point, I’m just so tired of Batman. Let him rest for a little while. Try something else from the DCU. I get that he’s their most reliable moneymaker, but I’m just so fed up with the Sad Gritty Darkness and the terrible political subtext. (I’m not saying that’s inherent in all Batman properties, but it’s been consistent in the recent movies and Man of Steel didn’t seem to deviate. That’s part of the fatigue–they made Superman as Batman-y as they could, when the whole point of Superman is completely different.)

    • Mark Pompelia

Best positioning of a police badge EVER.

      • demidaemon

Yes. “Can I touch your badge, sir?” just got a whole new meaning.

    • Melissa

That badge is in *just* the right place. I don’t even like cops, but I would definitely let him see my license and registration. *eyebrow waggle*
