Jennifer Lopez in New York City

Posted on July 01, 2014

This is not a fashion-y look for Miss Jenny. There are no labels to be turned toward the camera; no borrowed merchandise to flog like a Price is Right model. No intention to be photographed at all, really. Which is exactly why were featuring them. Not to embarrass J Lo, but to point out how cute she looks when she’s not even trying.

Well, maybe there was a tiny intent to be photographed. Even so, it’s refreshing to see her un-Diva’d for once. Don’t get us wrong, like any two shallow queens, we love when she gets her big hair and butt dresses on, but it’s nice to see her look a little normal (in a most-would-kill-for-that-bod kinda way) for once.

This is more like it. And with her kids!

    • sugarkane105

      Selena esta aqui! Love her.

    • Karen Belgrad

I know she is super-super-toned, but if the rise of your jeans present a fictitious muffin top, it’s time to wear different jeans.

      • Rhonda Shore

Actually, I LOVE that she appears to have a bit of a belly!!!

        • Karen Belgrad

I guess since I spend so much time hiding my bit-o-bely, I would always want to look super-taute.

I do know it’s also the angle. If it didn’t have that upwards angle, it wouldn’t look that way,

          • Rhonda Shore

i felt like that little curve gives us all a bit of hope, somehow…

            • Karen Belgrad

My hope is that mid-rise jeans and full length shirts give the illusion that I could wear low-rise jeans and crop-tops! :)

            • Jacqueline Wessel

Good for you. I’m sure it’s true.

            • Karen Belgrad

              What’s true?

            • Jacqueline Wessel

I meant to say that I”m sure it’s true that you look like you could wear low-rise jeans and crop-tops.

            • DebbieLovesShoes

              Yes!

        • butterflysunita

Yes, I was actually thinking that bit of curve to the belly was sexy–a refreshing change from the usual flat abs of starlets.

        • marlie

Belly or not, I just see jeans that are a size too small.

        • FridaStaire

          I want to touch it!

      • marlie

No matter what your actual body size, this is an indication that your jeans are too tight.

        • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Not enough booty room in her jeans. Mine do the same thing (cutting into my belly, splaying at the top of the zipper) when my butt is not properly accommodated. It is possible for the waistband to cut in at the front and gap at the back!

    • Glam Dixie

Is it bad that I still want to punch her in the throat? She is living proof of the old adage that just because you CAN wear it, doesn’t mean you should. She looks cute, but that outfit belongs on a woman who is in her 20’s, I’m old fashioned like that.

    • Rhonda Shore

People usually look best when they’re not trying so hard and she really is a beautiful woman, outside of all the diva stuff.

    • FibonacciSequins

I wish I could say I looked this good in jeans and a crop top.

      • Carleenml

I can’t say I DON’T look this good. Since I’ve never actually worn a crop top. So yeah, I probably do.

      • DebbieLovesShoes

Me, too. Oh, the jealousy! I couldn’t wear that even BEFORE having a baby!

    • Kitten Mittons

She looks relaxed, which is nice to see. She doesn’t have her fierce face on.

      • DebbieLovesShoes

        Yeah, that “bad smell” face

        • Kitten Mittons

That, or the “Why are you standing in my line of sight?” look

          • DebbieLovesShoes

            Good point. Bless.

    • Guest

She has such a need to show skin all the time that it borders on the pathological.

      • Fuchsiaforever

        Yes! Ugh so annoying

    • msdamselfly

the stomach poking out of the jeans looks hideous. Those jeans are too tight

      • carolitafavorita

Her tiny ‘belly’ gives the rest of mere mortals hope and is quite the opposite of ‘hideous’. But thanks for playing.

    • ivfive

Where do you get one of those super-sized child carriers?

      • DebbieLovesShoes

        Ha!

    • Latin Buddy

Is it morbid or mean to say this is what I envision Selena would look like today?

      • greyhoundgirl

I don’t think it’s morbid or mean–just shows that you’re thinking of her.

    • Sobaika

Love all of this! Except for the use of flip flops in the city… ICK.

      • Tee

Flip flops in the city are nasty. I miss the days when they were verboten anywhere away from the water.

      • kimmeister

The flip flops are the one thing that make me think that she ever lived on the block.

      • Deedles

This used to always elicit a response from Messieurs T et Lo in years past, too! :-)

      • Introspective

might seem crazy to others but i’ll speak for the borough when i say #bronxbroads do flip flops on nyc sidewalks non stop. all summer long. nothing a little soap and water cant handle ;)

nice that she hasnt totally forgotten her roots…

        • Jaeda Laurez

Yep. You take em off, and head straight for the bathroom- but this insistence that “sandals” are totally cool, but flip flops are just GROSS” is like, unheard of, around my way.

        • ktr33

Also in Brooklyn. Also commuting to Manhattan. If anybody’s old enough they remember how everyone used to commute in their white sneakers (shudder!) and change into pumps at the office? Now it’s flip-flops.

        • CatLady

Not a Bronx girl, but I’ve lived in big cities for most of my life and if I’ve got a casual summer outfit I’m breaking out the flip flops!

    • alyce1213

Da Bronx is in da house . . . well, with diamonds the size of baseballs. She looks really nice without all the crap. Cute belly.

      • conniemd

I can’t believe JLo wears rubber flip flops just like me – $1.99. But I’d never wear them out and about or in the big city. I wear them when I take my dog out for a walk or need to throw something on to go into the street.

    • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

Such a cute outfit. The top gives this look the kick it needed.

    • Betsy

I am definitely in the minority because a lot of gossip and fashion sites are raving. I don’t get it. Mind you, she looks fine and casual, but jeans and an ill-fitted half-shirt don’t make me feel much of anything.

    • MissusBee

Those jeans are not for sitting down in, even on her. But it’s a reminder that underneath the glitz is a very good-looking human being.

      • MartyBellerMask

I bet she unbuttoned them when she got in the car! Her thighs are slammin but my god, the jeans are painfully tight.

    • mjude

omg she is just like us! LOL

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

It’s so refreshing to see her like this. In many ways, she’s more sexy here than when she’s wearing a typical JLo body cinching gown.

    • CPK1

I love her here. She looks so pretty and fresh.

    • Shawn EH

      Loving the studded cuff!

      • Introspective

        that cuff is hot.

    • venusvelvet

I wonder if she feels like herself if no one notices her.

    • giddypony

That top looks simultaneously horribly hot, and chilling at the same time. Impressive.

    • Danielle

I could never wear that style top, I’d be yanking it down every second it was on.

      • Introspective

word. but unlike jenny’s mostly flat tummy, my muffin top has blueberries and yogurt in it so i wouldnt even dare to leave the store with that thing…

    • MilaXX

That is a true Jenny from the block look.

    • crash1212

Jenny from the Block…for reals. Love the top.

    • Lilithcat

Aww. It’s such a shame that she’s so broke that she can’t afford a decent pair of shoes and jeans without holes in them.

I hear there are good thrift shops in NYC (like Housing Works). Perhaps she should try those.

    • MaggieMae

I am envious of her great skin and smile.

    • Julie Parr

The best that she ever looked was in that early movie with George Clooney, not because she was younger but becasue she was pared down. Here, she looks even better. She should tone it down much more often. She’s so naturally gorgeous.

    • decormaven

What amazing skin. Her facialist is superb. It’s nice to see her in such a natural look.

    • marlie

I don’t even really like this look, BUT it’s so much better than the try-hard version of Jenny from the Block.

    • Clydette Wantland

I love that she has a little belly like us normal folks who’ve had kids.

      • suzq

It really is the cutest muffintop in all of the universe.

    • queeniethebold

i’m just shuddering at the thought of wearing flip-flops to walk around NYC. Major heebiejeebies.

      • ktr33

But this is how we do. And some of actually walk. Jenny’s probably walking from the curb into the SUV.

    • nannypoo

Wow. Jenny from the block, actually on the block. Who knew? She looks adorable.

    • TippiH

I don’t know if you cropped this photo, or if it came to you that way, but CHEERS!!! for respecting her family by not showing her child. I love me some JLo drag queen realness and love that she’s a celebrity who seems to get it…but no need to include her child. Thanks for that.

    • Sophie

That shirt looks very strange from the side.

    • Michelle Lim

The top’s not flattering at all. Kudos for attempting to look normal though.

    • quiltrx

Looks like Consuela (the Family Guy maid, I want to picture her working for J Lo) needs to get on the laundry. This reeks of “last clean outfit”.

    • Fuchsiaforever

      She’s so freaking tacky

    • cocohall

What amazes me is that given the tourniquet-level tightness of those pants that she can look anything other than miserable. She even looks happy and relaxed. How is this possible? I think these are her “achievement” pants. I read somewhere that she had been working out for her tour and lost about 10 lbs. She does look enviably fit. But her pants silhouette usually tends towards a looser fit to accommodate her bodacious bum. These say “look at what I can get into! I’m 44, world! I had twins!” I applaud her (let’s just say that carrying twins was not very kind to my mid-section) but I fear for her circulatory system.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

The jeans are too tight BUT I am left wanting to bite that curve on her waist so it’s a dressed-down DO ME.

    • FridaStaire

      Breathtaking!

    • Wink

Tight jeans OR crop top, but not both. Still, it’s good to see her in a ‘toned down’ state.

    • Joanna

She is so pretty when she just smiles instead of the mouth-half-open-you-know-you-want-me look.

    • webslice33

      she looks so fresh…

    • enchanted216

I don’t think she looks cute at all. That belly baring shirt is just stupid, in my opinion.

    • Raspberry2012

She had me until that shirt. That shirt is the casual version of “trying too hard”. It’s her way of saying, “I’m so dressed down, they’ll never smell the desperation all over this simple tee!”

    • Synnae

She looks so much better toned down and casual. Although that top could have been 4″ longer but I’ll take it.
