Chris Pratt in Sand Copenhagen at the “Guardians of the Galaxy” New York Special Screening

Posted on July 30, 2014

Tom’s finding this whole thing to be just a little delicious. As someone whose wardrobe is divided into “Puffy” and “Not Puffy*” sections, depending on his dietary habits that month, it’s DELIGHTFUL to see a boystar who has the same problem.

* Truthfully, it should be “Puffy” and “Slightly Less Puffy.”

Sure, we feel bad that he’s outgrown his poledance clothes like a 7th-grader going through a hormonal surge, but he looks so damn pleased with himself that it’s hard to feel bad for him. Maybe it’s because he’s the only male star we’ve ever seen who can make that ironic “checking my watch” pose actually seem funny. Charm can go a long way in overcoming style deficiencies. He’s a living example of that. Even so, we sure would like to see him in one thing that fits him correctly.

And it’s a T Lo Style Rule, Chris: You get to undo only one shirt button if you’re going tie-less in a suit.

He is adorable. Pity the suit doesn’t fit him right since this is the nicest ensemble he’s done lately. Love the shoes

    • rkdgal

It’s been fun to watch him slowly sliding back into Andy Dwyer territory (where most of us love him best!).

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Edible. What a lovely hump day treat!

    • Wink

When will people learn… if you have thick THIGHS, a bubble BUTT, and a barrel CHEST, you should not try to squeeze all of that into a SKINNY suit. Nice suit, but it belongs to Joseph Gordon Levitt.

      • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I learned. He is making enough money that he could at least go to Syms and buy TWO identical suits but in different sizes. The first one he gets altered to fit his torso, and he throws away the pants. The second one, he gets the pants altered to fit his thighs and ass, and he tosses the coat. That’s how the bears do it. That’s how every gay bear chorus queen buys their tuxedos. And if they don’t, well then, that’s why their town’s chorale gets only the B-list divas for their Christmas Pageant.

        • Mr. J.

Knowledgeability! I have learned a good new thing today. Thanks.

    • thrillckr

Personally, I think he’s filling out those pants rather nicely! :)

    • Glam Dixie

I really don’t think he has a clue that he looks like a middle schooler having a growth spurt.

    • In_Stitches

I think it fits fine. He’s a big guy, he’s going to look like a big guy no matter what suit he’s wearing. This one shows off how lean and muscular he is. The pants veer towards tight, but I don’t think they’ve tipped into ‘too tight’ territory.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Jackets are not supposed to pull like that across the chest.

        • In_Stitches

Even when your hands are in your pockets? There aren’t any shots of him just standing still with his arms down by his side, but I imagine the lapels would lie flat and there would be no pulling at the button. It’s hard to tell though.

          • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I think you’re supposed to be able to move your arms without the amount of pulling going on in picture number 2.

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

And your sleeves aren’t supposed to be a tourniquet when you look at your watch.

          • In_Stitches

Well I’ve been out-voted. I suppose I have my blinders on for Andy Dwyer.

            • Kitten Mittons

After reading this thread, I can see more of the fit issues described, but I also thought this fit him slightly better than his other outfits this week. The problems weren’t as obvious to me as with his other outfits, at least. May be due in part to my love for him, and also my love for a good plaid suit. I would give serious dollars to get my husband in a suit like that.

              *puts blinders back on*

            • girliecue

There really isn’t anything quite like a good plaid suit, is there?

*continues to gaze adoringly at Chris Pratt

            • Kitten Mittons

Yeah, it’s hard to be objective….

    • gabbilevy

Really loving this Pratt parade, fit issues or no. Plus, I already have my tickets to see this TOMORROW and I can. not. wait.

      • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Right? Lets make a Chris Pratt channel. All Chris, all the time. French braid tutorials, touring the country eating fair food, and mazes made of maize.

        • Anna

          Where do I subscribe?

      • BarniClaw

I came here this morning b/c I wanted a place to say: I loved this movie! And this is not my favorite film genre. I went with a 14-yr-old, and we both laughed and laughed. I got a little confused by the intergalaxy politics, but didn’t care. And Chris Pratt was the best. He has a slammin bod but still the same dorky sweetness. A winning combination for any super hero.

    • Darcy H

I’m just hoping T doesn’t have as many bronzer issues as Chris does.

    • Dino Bonačić

As you said, the outgrowing part is very sad. It’s mothaf-ing Hollywood – getting new clothes mid-tour shouldn’t seem impossible.

      • FrigidDiva

That’s what I don’t get. How much money has Marvel made off all the Avenger’s movies? There’s no excuse what so ever that they can’t get him suits that fit, I don’t care how puffy/slightly less puffy he is. Also, you would think that a stylist would plan for something like that and have clothing in a few different sizes to make an allowance for possible fit issues, especially since they’re promoting this thing like crazy.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Yum.

    • rhône

      he could get it tbh

    • hughman

As someone who also has blue eyes I’m betting he got SO sick of hearing “this shirt/suit/watch really shows off the color in your eyes”. It’s easy to quickly get sick of people pushing blue on you.

      • FrigidDiva

As a fellow blue-eyed BK I very much agree.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

          Likewise.

        • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

          Yep, me too!

      • kimmeister

We brown-eyed folks never get anything pushed on us. What can they get compared to? Mud? Tree bark? Chocolate, at best? [/endpout]

    • KT

I think he looks pretty cute here, even though the suit’s not fitting quite right. The undershit (typo and it stays) is also not quite right, and he needs a tie, in my opinion. Still, not bad. It helps that he has such a sweet face. I just want to pinch those cheeks (and something else)!!

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

He’s so adorable that I can’t stand it. I like him with a little extra puff!

      • Grumpy Girl

The way the bottom button on the shirt is having tension . . . he looks so touchable and huggable and . . .

        • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

I will hug him, and squeeze him, and love him, but I will most likely not call him George.

    • frannyprof

Why do the boys always undo the bottom jacket button and leave the top one closed and then put their damn hands in their damn pockets???? Adds an instant 10 pounds.

    • marlie

I LURVE that suit. With the exception of everything being a teeny bit snug, I have not been in the least bit disappointed with Chris’ looks this poledance. Attaboy.

    • TwiddlyStun

Oh, that asterisk is SO getting someone in trouble!

    • SewingSiren

Uh Ohs It looks as if he should have been picking in the puffy section.

    • mimi

Who cares if the suit doesn’t fit? I just want to take it off anyway. Not looking at the suit!

    • MoHub

When I first looked at the headline, I read it as Chia Pet instead of Chris Pratt. I stand by my original reading.

    • Anna

Oh, he’s adorable. And unlike other celebs who do the whole, “LOOK! I eat cheeseburgers and fries, I’M JUST LIKE YOU!” spiel, he seems genuine and would be someone I’d want to go out for beers and aforementioned junk food with.

      • FrigidDiva

I also like the fact that in the interviews they’ve done about his work out regimen for this role (because what else are they going to talk to an actor about who has sick-pack abs in a movie) he’s been pretty blunt about being miserable to be around while he’s working out and dieting to get in the kind of shape he was in for the movie. I love that level of seeming sincerity and even if I wasn’t a huge nerd I’d still want to go see this just for him.

        • Anna

He’s very relatable, for sure. I can’t see him publishing a fitness book a la Joe M anytime soon. And in the “French braid video,” he seemed pretty enthusiastic to be able to enjoy his wife’s cooking again.

          • Supernumerary

I recall having seen him and Anna Farris on an episode of Top Chef some time back. Both of them seem a bit in love with food, adorably enough.

        • Alanna

Yup, and when he posted those first shirtless photos (that had me shouting, “Holy crap, what happened to Andy Dwyer!?”) I loved his joke that he lost all that weight by quitting beer.

    • MilaXX

This would be his best look to date if it was all 1-2 sizes bigger. However, he was on Kelly & Micheal this morning in jeans, a shirt and a sweater and EVERYTHING FIT! I actually sat up and paid attention because I was so happy to see him in clothes that fit him. At least he seems to be having fun on this pole dance.

      • FrigidDiva

I know celebrity images are carefully crafted, but him and Anna Faris always strike me as the couple you go out with and have a blast because they’re so fun to hang out with. It doesn’t hurt that I think they’re both hilarious, even in that awful Movie 43. Their vignette was incredibly disgusting, but I still laughed out loud. Actually, as terrible as that movie was I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it.

    • DaveinAlamitosBeach

Since I’m sure they have the money/resources to get something that fits, I’m thinking the Powers That Be are actually encouraging Chris to wear these too tight suits. It makes him look like a regular person who goes up and down and is often fighting the final 15 pounds. I know I’m buying it. :-)

    • sherrietee

Considering this guy spent all day at a theater letting kids take selfies with him and didn’t leave until every last one of them who wanted to got that picture with him, he can wear whatever the hell he wants to and he’ll get no criticism from me.

      • TinyDynamo

Just when I think I can’t love him more, you drop this info on me. Be still, my heart!!

    • PinkyK

Poor thing, we’ve all had that “crap I’ve gained just enough weight to make this unflattering yet I can still get in it” moment.

    • http://urban-gypsy.com/ Tess Danesi

He’s just so adorable, but I do wish his stylist would go out and find some suits that fit. Or he can just disrobe and problem solved.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I really like that suit though. Pity it doesn’t fit him.

    • Shawn EH

He’s trying to carry off the poor fit with charm and attitude; and it’s working!

Also, oh snap!: “Slightly Less Puffy.”

    • quiltrx

Cute suit and cute guy. Pity it doesn’t fit and trying to button it just makes it worse. Can we get this fellow someone who knows how to dress a nicely-filled-out man?

    • mrspotts66

      the suit’s meh.
and i know how he feels. the bloat…oh, gawd, the bloat. :P
however, he needs to shave. or do something definitive with the facial hair.
he’s bordering on franco territory. ~~shudder~~

    • Janet B

      Gorgeous suit.

    • kimmeister

He actually looks quite dashing with his furrowed brow in the “checking my watch” picture!

    • FibonacciSequins

He’s reminding me of Michael Gladis in these photos. Love the suit, even if it is a bit tight.

    • Izzy_Gremlin

No, really. There is such a thing as an “athletic cut” suit. And tailors. They happen on this planet. Despite the awkward-fitting suit and neckbeard, though, that amount of “so happy I just don’t care” is always a fashion classic.

    • lundibleu

I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it again… It is the jackets that are causing the major fit issues for him at the moment, so lose ‘em! Go with a waistcoat, or something looser fitting but smart to go with trousers and shirt.

    • Sophie

He’s left-handed! I like the suit, wish it didn’t pull so much across the chest, but he looks very good anyway.

    • Man Dala

He looks very “crotchy”. Me likes.

    • Cecilia Lin

In my book, only Colin Firth is allowed to undo more than one button when going tie-less in a suit

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

Belt. Why is he not wearing a belt!?!

    • vahtel

That second photo is doing things to me.

      • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

Me too! Me Too! Very swoon-able. Very very dishy. The third one ain’t bad either.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

Dear me. That Chris Pratt, boy. He can wear anything.

    • Zombiepeep

Loved him when he was in the pit and love him now that he’s out of it. Mouserat forever!

    • macaroni

God he is so, so charming. I LOVE that suit, and it’s a damn shame that it doesn’t fit.
