Couldabin cute. Couldabin stylish. Couldabin sassy.

It’s not terrible as it is, but we think a dress like that needs a little thought in the styling to keep it fresh and to pull out its details. Let’s play Pretend Stylist, darlings. The rules? You have to keep the dress but you’re free to play with anything else. Working our way from the top, we’re thinking ponytail, colorful earrings with a little dangle to them, a giant honking cocktail ring in a focus-pulling color, like a deep blue or green, and a pair of white pointy-toed pumps.

Your turn.

Agree with you on the honking cocktail ring. Or maybe a silver cuff.

  • Glam Dixie

At least she didn’t keep the Napoleon Dynamite boots that the model is wearing. See? It could have been so much worse.

    • Imasewsure

Yes but those boots would have given her some sweet moves so that would have been alright

      • Glam Dixie

        Tina, eat your steak! Gosh!

  • misstressofsylar

Definitely sassier shoes and a cleaner hairstyle (the dress is fussy enough). What happened to Zoe and her mojo?

    • Vanessa Reyes

I was wondering the same thing? Where did her mojo go??

  • kimmeister

I have to bow out of this one, because I wouldn’t even keep the dress. The print reminds me of sunnyside up eggs, or bird splay.

    • @Biting Panda

      Hate the dress.

      • luluransom

Me too. Didn’t think you could make her look that dumpy.

    • Lori

I was thinking amoebas. The dress really isn’t good. It’s kinda, sorta good adjacent, but it didn’t get there.

      • AnguaVonUberwald

        Yup, amoeba lace, for sure.

      • kimmeister

I was initially thinking amoebas too, due to the nucleii, but the edges are too . . . splashy. Like something liquid has been dropped and went SPLAT.

    • Judih1

I agree – hate the print. And the shape of the dress, and the color combo. Basically hate the dress I guess

    • CakesOnAPlane

It couldabeen cute…but it’s OOOVER NOOOOWW….(sung with the utmost 80’s Roxette angst)

    • smayper

laughed and snorted and AGREED! Too much print is not a good thing.

  • If the heels were lower, that would a pair of shoes in my closet. I am of a certain age with foot/arch issues. So definitely not good for this outfit!

  • Griffinqueen

Big curly hair, Silver hoops and black strappy sandals with silver studs.

    • formerlyAnon

Ohh. I like. If the hair is truly big enough.

  • Janet B

    Can I remove the sleeves?

  • What she needs is a belt. And better hair.

  • LadyVimes

Black pumps, slicked back ponytail, and a shitton more jewelry. As in wrist diamonds and dangly floral diamond earrings. Add a big smokey eye and a brighter lip and we’re golden.

  • James

All I see are bacteria on that dress.

  • Imasewsure

That dress is straight up ugly… If I have to keep the dress, I’m covering it with coat porn and then following my dear uncles’ suggestions for accessorizing (this ugly monstrosity of a dress)

  • ktr33

This is a dress Carol Burnett would wear in the Mama’s Family sketch.

I can’t think of anything, but the sheer sleeves would have to go.

  • d4divine

That dress stopped me in my tracks…can’t get past the fuglyness of it all. All that being said, I would lose the floppy bangs…black sandals…black hoops…and the most insane coral stoned cocktail ring I could find on one hand and a less insane, but still large and striking, onyx stone cocktail ring on the other hand.

  • DagnyReardon

I love playing Fashion Barbie. Needs some baubles, bangles and beads for sure. And the shoes have got to go.

  • Daisy Walker

Sadly, I am not simpatico with mon oncles today. I think white pumps would be horrible. White shoes in general make my eye twitch, but all white pumps should be killed with fire.

  • Lori

I have no idea how to fix this. I just keep wondering why these days she looks like she’s just given up. She went from fashionista to wan and blah in such a short time. It’s not that I always liked the way she dressed before. Some of her outfits were totally cracked out. They weren’t sad though. What happened?

  • Skippymom1

Yes, yes and yes on all you said. Especially the pony tail. Please get your hair out of your face, it doesn’t need to drape like the flounce on the fun frock.

  • PastryGoddess

    Can pretend stylists use fire?

  • FibonacciSequins

I like everything you suggested except the white pumps. I would go with wine or plum suede pumps.

  • Yoshio

The color is drab and does nothing for her so I reject the premise that it could be styled successfully for her.

  • elemspbee

those shoes. abomination to fashion, style, to shoes in general!!!

  • eandh99

this could be a dress from the plus-size section at Sears, that’s how terrible it is. Nothing can save it

  • joything

1940s hair – pulled up off the neck into piled-up curls. Teardrop earrings, one diamond bangle, and … hmmmm … let’s take a chance on sunshine-yellow pumps. No? Another color?

  • I like the hair and the dress. Amp up the look with some strappy sliver shoes and some bold silver star earrings. Have some fun .

  • gracedarling

I’m going to say a head wrap in the same melon as the dress, flat white canvas tennis shoes, and some great honking hoop earrings. Get on it, girl!

  • E. D.

Clip back the front pieces of her hair, big coral ring, and nude, non-strappy heeled sandals.

  • decormaven

    Sleek pony for sure.

  • Wink

The best accessory for this dress is a light switch… in the OFF position.

  • MissusBee

I dunno. The print reminds me of a petri dish, the color is endrabbing her (yes it’s a word), and the frills are eating her up.
She’s being endrabbed in frills of amoebas.
It does look more kicky in the last photo. But still: amoebas.

  • BlairBear

I’m thinking a silver cuff and a silver stripy sandal because I can’t with white pumps

  • formerlyAnon

First, stop standing there looking like you’re wringing your hands in anxiety.
Second, lose the shelves with the spare and understated packaging of a very chi chi, very new, and somewhat under-funded boutique specializing in a single, pricey, skin care line.
Third, lose the tendrils. Updo or pony tail or shoulder length wig, go for clean & sassy hair.
Fourth, big but clean earrings in simple op art shapes (amoeba?) in silver and white/red/teal (chose one or two) cloisonne.
Fifth, I prefer a silver cuff, but her wrists are so tiny, maybe go with the cocktail ring.
6th, shoes. Pointy, white with teal accents. Or red accents.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

Ponytail, giant honking leather cuff bracelet, fun, dangly earrings, agreed on the white shoes.

  • Fuchsiaforever

    She looks sad 🙁
