Kiernan Shipka in Preen at the Jimmy Choo’s CHOO.08 Launch Party

Posted on April 16, 2014

That Mad Style post took a lot out of us, kittens. Here’s something easy to get the rest of the day started:

K1“Mad Men” actress Kiernan Shipka attends the Jimmy Choo’s CHOO.08 Launch Party in Beverly Hills, California in a Preen dress paired with an Edie Parker clutch and Jimmy Choo pumps.

Jimmy Choo ‘Typhoon’ Lime Lemon Pebble Kid Leather and Patent Pumps

We’re so wiped out and unable to form sentences that we’re about to use that word we detest:

Hey, at least we didn’t say “TOTES Adorbs.”  Oh wait. We just did. Dammit.

Anyway, she is totally adorable and we don’t mind using the extra syllables to say it. She put the effort in. Shouldn’t we?

This child will rule the world.

      • Kathy_Marlow

I will gladly serve she who is best dressed in all the land.

      • Nicholas

All shall tremble before Kiernan WERQborn.

        • Ass Kicking Adviser

          WERQborn indeed. Love it!

    • funwithpurses

Damn, it must be fun to be Kiernan Shipka. Ever flawless.

    • International Model

      …she’d make a killer Jem/Jerrica.

      • ashtangajunkie

        Outrageous! In a good way.

        • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

          Totally outrageous!

    • Sam Smith

From the front adorable all the way, but it appears there may be some questionable stuff going on in the back.

      • mlurve

        Are those…butt zippers?

Really though overall 9.5/10, she is awesome

        • Betsy

Youth, genes, squats…whatever the reason, those zippers would be tragic on most others, but they’re not so bad on her.

    • ashtangajunkie

Everything is so flawlessly executed. The shoes were a perfect choice.

      • ballerinawithagun

        Love those shoes!!!

      • twocee

        I want those shoes.

      • didgerdoni

        Absolutely agree. I gasped.

      • Kitten_Mittens

Is this the rare instance where super matchy shoes actually work?

        • tereliz

It’s weird, because you’re probably only talking about the yellow and the gray tones in both the dress and shoes, but isn’t it crazy how perfectly the shadows being cast on her dress mimic the shade of green/seafoam in the shoes?

For the record, I think the pop of color makes the shoe “go” with the dress in a way that would make a “matchier” gray capped shoe feel boring and “matchy-matchy”.

          • teensmom99

I think there are times when to deny he match would be crazy & this is one. & the slight differences in tone & color blocking make it work.

          • Kitten_Mittens

You’re right, it took a bit more staring before I noticed there wasn’t really any seafoam in the dress. This is some next level shit…

    • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I bow down to her and her perfectly shaped eyebrows.

    • Scimommy

I just can’t with her. TOTES ADORBS.

    • Kim Elmore

OMG. I am 50 & never will be as stylish as this one :(

      • Imasewsure

I think with free clothes and a professional stylist (and Bitter Kittens and Dear Uncles) you just might make it!! :)

        • Heather

I dunno… I also think it takes an innate sense of style. Plenty of starlets have free clothes and stylists and still go out looking like crap (this is why Go Fug Yourself exists). But definitely, BKs and Dear Uncles are helpful!

    • uprightcitizen

Shoes that are both interesting and pretty? We don’t see that often around these parts.

      • Rhonda Shore

        Fantastic shoes!

    • Jessica Freeman

I think she looks great. I do wish for better shoulder straps and no butt zippers, but I still love this.

    • holla

    • thecitysleeps

      Perfection. Those shoes are gorge!

    • Anna

Those back zip pockets (?) are a bit of a needle scratch, but only a minor quibble for me. So far, my 30s have really not looked as good as her teens *sulks, then falls into a deep, dark depression*

    • KendraMR

Head to toe perfection. This girl barely has her driver’s license, yet dresses better than most of the lady stars in Hollywood.

      • Trent

…Including most of her Mad Men co-stars.

      • CatherineRhodes

Keirnan Shipka is only 14, so unless she’s driving a tractor on a family farm, she’s not legal to drive. :)

        • KendraMR

Gosh, she can’t even get her driver’s permit!

          • demidaemon

Couldn’t she get one in Texas or some other state? I only know this rather unusual fact because I have a student writing on the subject of teen driving in my class. 😉

    • kmk05

Effortlessly spring. Not too in love with the matchy shoes, but she’s at the right age for this entire get-up.

      • kimmeister

At first I was going to quibble with the matchy shoes, but then I was bowled over by how perfectly they match, despite combining three colors that aren’t normally combined. I think if I had been her and came across those shoes, I would be forced to get them to go with the dress.

        • Alicia

Given that it’s a Jimmy Choo event, I suspect the dress was chosen to go with the shoes, rather than the shoes for the dress.

          • kimmeister

I hadn’t paid that close of attention, but now that you point it out I totally agree with you. It in no way changes my astonishment at their matching perfection though.

            • Alicia

Oh I know. To take those shoes and say “I have just the dress” is a real talent.

        • AllisonSees

I think the dress is just white, gray, and yellow without any mint green in it, though I thought it had at first. I think the shadows on the white areas are reading as mint, oddly enough. Like if you look at that last picture — the shadow of her arm and the pleat of her skirt over the fabric behind it are the mint-colored bits.

        • kmk05

They’re EXACTLY right. But does that mean they’re too right? (if that makes any sense). It’s beautiful in that sophisticated!doll kind of way or a high end bridesmaid/girl of honour kind of way.

          Or maybe I’m just grumpy.

ETA: I take it back. There’s almost no green in the dress while it’s the main colour for the shoes, so it just picks up the accents of the dress beautifully and enhances them. I bow down, because it’s sophisticated not really matchiness, which is all we BKs ever ask for.

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

christ, she needs to give other lady stars and tween stars her stylists number. she always be shutting it the fuck down.

    • Tanya Wade

This child kills it. I love a good grey and yellow combo!

    • marlie

I’d cut a bitch for her shoes AND dress. Love it.

    • Cyprienne Zed

    • Laura Renee

Very cute, I approve. Hope the next Mad Style posts are more fun and less stressful for you!

    • Kate Andrews

      I love her shoes!!

    • MilaXX

WERQ. with an extra bonus for still being age appropriate

    • Kate Andrews

As a sidenote, I’ll bet Kiernan’s a big reason why Matt Weiner’s shooting all 14 episodes in a row, instead of taking a few months’ break between seasons. She’s maturing really quickly — her face looks a lot more grown up lately, it seems to me.

      • Alicia

I read something about GoT recently where George RR Martin commented that not only was the show in danger of catching up with his writing, but Maisie is getting too old for Arya. I also really noticed that the actor who plays Bran is aging much faster than the character. It’s a problem with child actors!

    • Aidan B

As I’ve found myself saying on another Kiernan post: I’m 25 and I want that entire outfit.

    • Snoskred

I need sunglasses to look at this properly. Why is Kiernan Shipka wearing the sun? :)

    • andi56

I love how she almost instinctively minimizes the accessories, knowing that a print will often carry the look. Too adorable, really!

      • sagecreek

She has amazing instincts. If she could bottle and sell them, she’d be a multi-billionaire.

        • andi56

If one could buy class and grace, you’d be so right! : )

    • decormaven

Shutting it down! Adorbs for sure.

    • Stacey Summerville

I want to look like Kiernan when I grow up.

      • broke&fashionable

I say that all the time! I am 28 :)

    • Jacqueline Wessel

She looks so good from the front and those shoes are fab. But, why is the back of the dress plain white? I’d like it better of the print went all the way around, but then it probably wouldn’t be considered “fashion”. What I would give for half of those eye brows.

    • Kent Roby

“Totes adorbs”, much like a curse word, is fine and effective when used sparingly for effect. Here, it fits.

    • Tawn Singh

Why in the hell do I like those shoes??!!! I have a pair of pointy shoes. Thanks for reminding me to wear them.

      • lalahartma

Ha! I feel the same. What, I like a pair of Jimmy Choos??

    • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

      She. Is. PERFECTION.

    • MarissaLG

      Very cute!

    • Resl

      Somebody buy me those shoes.

    • Imasewsure

Love the dress… love the shoes… but not together

    • DeniseSchipani

Love it.She seems young for those shoes, though.

    • ♠♥zee♣♦

    • Danielle

Can you imagine if she went to lunch with Queen Lupita? Heads would explode.

    • Christine Hart

How did she do that shoes and dress look great together, at a shoe event. Wow !

    • Liz

Even though the fabric (in the front-why is it white in the back?) looks like a set of sheets I used to have, she looks fabulous.

    • sagecreek

Wow, she’s getting so grown up! Alas, I guess this means she’ll start dating some disastrous loser before long, but until then, I’ll retain my illusions that she is perfect in every way. And SERIOUSLY Totes Adorbs.

    • stubbornthoughts

    • Joanna

I NEED those shoes in my life!

    • MartyBellerMask

      I miss Sally.

    • alyce1213

Amazing. What a sweet dress, and the shoes are to die for.

    • Glammie

She’s what? 14? You get to say Totes Adorbs about a 14-year-old. Damn, she just soaked up sorts of style lessons from Janie Bryant’s dressing of Betty, didn’t she? She’s like the one actress who figured out that picking up Janie Bryant’s lead on style is a *good* idea.

    • quiltrx

I think a shoe event is the time you can definitely go matchy-match…kudos to whoever found this dress to go with the shoes!
Great shape on her, and indeed Totes Adorbs.

    • Judy_J

Pure Sandra Dee fabulosity! I want those shoes!

    • crash1212

TOTES adorbs, indeed. Can’t hardly wait until Sally makes her entrance in new season. I want to know what’s she’s been up to.

    • Coco Cornejo

Why is there a zipper across her bottom? From the front, I agree, she’s totes adorbs. From the back, I’m not so sure about that dress.

      • Boop

        I believe they’re pockets.

        • Coco Cornejo

Zipper pockets across the bottom are totes horible.

    • kipper

How old is Sally now on the show?

      • Susan Velazquez

I think about 14-15. She did recently start her period in season 5, I believe so she’s still pretty young.

        • kipper

          thank you

    • Agatha Guilluame

IN! Was that not the question…

It’s been said but it bears repeating, she is a perfect genetic combination of Don and Betty, spot on casting choice.

    • Lilithcat

      ~ sob ~

My little girl’s all grown up!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Kiernan Shipka is totally adorable. I read an interview with her this weekend and she comes across as a lovely, well-adjusted young lady( and having written that I now realize I have turned into my mother)

    • lalahartma

First shoes I’ve liked on anyone in a while!

    • MinAgain

She looks great, but I don’t understand the solid colored back if the dress.

    • French_Swede

Okay, I’m putting on my old lady grumpy hat here…..

While everything is perfect, that fact that a 14 year old is rocking Jimmy Choo heels just seems wrong to me. She’s just too young.

      • Amel

Hm, I guess I would agree if they were high stillettos, but I think these are low-ish and cute and appropriate. I feel like it’s the shoes that seem to have been made expressly to murder women’s feet that should be saved for the fully adult among us

      • Boop

I think she’s getting to the age where she can do this. Maybe it’s because I used to hide my high heeled Candies in my school locker when I was 15 so my mother wouldn’t see me rockin’ heels during the day. I don’t see a problem -and they’re not ‘comefuckme” shoes or anything like that. They’re gorgeous. If it were my daughter, I’d be proud – and then I’d borrow her shoes.

      • alyce1213

Normally, I agree with you about stilettos on young teens (and I’ve kvetched about it plenty here), but I’m caving on these because they’re colorful, fun and youthful.

    • Sofia

besides being perfetcly dressed and acessorized, this girl has poise for days

    • NJBK

      Just so adorable

    • Alloy Jane

She is a cutie pie unlike any other. All Hail Kiernan!

    • Boop

:Thud:::: Perfection. Such a beautiful vision. That dress…but oh, those shoes! Kiernan is a little goddess.

    • TigerLaverada

She wins whatever there is to win today. Preternaturally gifted on the style front, this girl.

      She is cuter than life!

    • Tatiana

    • amaranth16

      She is just effing magical.

    • Fred Vaughn

She’s too good at this, too early… Can it last?

    • suzq

She’s the only one who looked decent that night….HOWEVER….it is a Franken dress and I completely hate the back of it. HATE IT from the back.

    • FridaStaire

      Oh baby you are beautiful!

    • Bob Loblaw

So so cute. Does the clutch have blue/seafoam in it?

    • Diva in 4 Inch Heels

I just love how Kiernan’s such a lovely young woman.
