We burst out laughing when we saw what Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan wore to the PaleyLive celebration of the show’s upcoming conclusion. As Lorenzo put it:

“Oh, they are done-done.” No kilts or romantic knitwear here, fans. They’re moving on.

This is so low effort as to be unworthy of style commentary. It’s not an event that calls for high style, however. We would have advised something slightly more photogenic than that limp and flimsy henley, but he’s not like, offensively underdressed. And it’s not on him that his soon-to-be-former co-star opted to go in a completely different direction.

This is both horrifying and silly, with none of the various elements relating to each other in any sort of way; just random things thrown together. The bottom half has nothing whatsoever to do with the top, not that we think some sort of smart styling choice was going to save this look. We don’t think she’s trolling, necessarily, but we do think she’s being pretty declarative about her need to get away from this character. We don’t like the design at all and we think it looks bad, but we kind of admire the defiance.
