Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen came to the premiere of The Miniature Wife working two very different styles, but still manage to come off like most married straight couples we know when they get dressed up:

He’s ready for the office and she’s ready to start a little trouble. We can’t say this show is enticing all that much except for the casting. They both have such a knack for dry sarcasm that we kind of want to watch just to see them play off each other.

Fashion-wise, it’s fine. It’s entirely too corporate for our tastes, but “corporate” is pretty much his style sweet spot. This is an actor destined to shoot many scenes in conference rooms and behind massive desks. Some guys just look like that. The frames are nice and we appreciate the grooming, but the outfit’s an afterthought.

Well, it’s been a chilly Spring so far so we suppose we can’t fault her for sporting the hottest red carpet trend of this past winter. We’ve seen more leather gowns on the red carpet in the last five months than we saw in the previous five years. We’re kind of over them at the moment, but this one is appealing. That capelet-yoke-poncho thingie is legitimately interesting and takes the design somewhere unexpected. It’s a design that doesn’t call for a lot of jewelry, but we’d have liked one big, kickass, industrial-looking statement piece, like a pewter cuff or some complicated earrings.
