Why Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Love Story Almost Didn’t Happen and How Queen Elizabeth Stepped In
A new biography of the Prince and Princess of Wales, ‘William and Catherine, The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story,’ is out on March 10

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s relationship is often framed as modern royalty’s great love story — but it came closer to ending than the world ever knew.
In William and Catherine, The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story (out March 10), author Russell Myers draws on nearly 100 interviews to chart the couple’s private turning points. “Now was the right time to provide a definitive account of William and Catherine’s life together,” Myers tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “They are pillars of the modern monarchy.”
From their slow-burn start at the University of St. Andrews to the 2007 split that briefly put everything in doubt, Myers also reveals the behind-the-scenes push from Queen Elizabeth, who helped change the course of their future.

Baywatch reboot series brings back its first legacy cast member
The casting comes just days after news that the show would be headlined by “Suits LA” star Stephen Amell, who will play an adult Hobie Buchannon.

Surf’s up — again — for David Chokachi.
The actor known for playing Cody Madison on Baywatch’s sixth through ninth seasons is returning for a recurring role in Fox’s reboot of the lifeguard drama, scheduled to launch as part of the 2026-2027 television season.
Per a logline, “OG heartthrob Cody Madison is returning to the beach. Cody runs The Shoreline, the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still puts on the red trunks for the occasional shift saving lives. He’s a mentor to and a friend, providing a second home for his fellow lifeguards… and always offering free wings after a big save.”

Where is Shandi Sullivan from America’s Next Top Model now?
The cycle two contestant had one of the show’s most devastating storylines

We always knew that a tell-all documentary about America’s Next Top Model wasn’t going to be pretty. But the Shandi Sullivan storyline from cycle two was particularly harrowing.
We’d all seen the memes, the makeovers, the questionable photoshoots and the Gladiator-level runway challenges. And given that the show hit its peak in the mid-to-late noughties, we weren’t under any illusions that Tyra Banks’ attempt to democratise the modelling industry via reality TV would be particularly inclusive, either. At best, ANTM could be written off as simply a product of its time. At worst, it could be blamed for perpetuating the worst elements of a 2000s celebrity culture that preyed on vulnerable women.

Leopard print nails are the unexpected manicure of Spring 2026
As a leopard print lover, I’m not sure why leopard print nails have never crossed my mind. That was until late last year when Hailey Bieber put me onto them.
While on a trip to Tokyo, the Rhode founder showed off her new manicure – courtesy of her longtime manicurist Zola Ganzorigt – complete with a matching pedicure. Opting for a mix of classy French tips and full leopard print nails, as always, Hailey was an early adopter of the trend.

Period dramas don’t need period costumes – and “Wuthering Heights” is the proof
“Why are we so enraged at Victorian-era Margot Robbie wearing red latex?”
When the four-hour epic Cleopatra premiered in 1963, audiences and critics were divided. On the one hand, people enjoyed the Elizabeth Taylor vehicle for its madness and opulence, which only a big-budget historical epic can have. Others hated how indulgent and inaccurate the whole experience was. Sounds familiar? Well, Emerald Fennell and Margot Robbie can probably relate.
Over 60 years later, a similar reaction – except this time amplified by the existence of Instagram, TikTok and Reddit – unraveled as the photos of costumes for Fennell’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ emerged online one particular dress, an iridescent pink gown with a flouncy bustier and a pink satin ribbon, caused a full-on revolution as costume-loving netizens declared their disgust for this new take on the Brontë classic.

29 best period dramas on Netflix
Throw it back with these classics.

Period dramas on Netflix are like our on-screen versions of comfort eating – they give us that warm, cosy feeling inside, perfect as a little escape from the current status quo. And who doesn’t want a good dose of comfort at all times? We’re hankering for days gone by, and period dramas are the perfect way to bask in the golden age.
Maybe it’s the corsets? The crowns? The ballgowns? Or even the strapping suitors in black-tie?! Whatever the reason, sometimes a dose of high society drama is exactly what we need for a bit of escapism.

Inside Bunny Mellon’s New York Home, Immortalized in Watercolor
As the Mellon family’s live-in artist, Snowy Campbell captured the colors and atmosphere of the Mellons’ many homes. Now, in a new book, her enchanting paintings are published for the first time.

Rachel “Bunny” Lambert Lloyd had her work cut out for her after she marched down the aisle with Paul Mellon in 1948.
There were so many homes to build and decorate—and document. Not unlike Renaissance royals who employed court painters, Bunny retained her own in-house artist, Alison “Snowy” Campbell. A Miss Porter’s girl with long white-blonde hair, she had just graduated from Wellesley when Mrs. Mellon discovered her, after a freak accident one New Year’s Eve. Ringing in 1970 in Antigua, a tipsy Mrs. Mellon took a twirl on the patio, then sailed backward onto the ground. A few days later, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, she found herself enamored with a watercolor hanging in the office of Dr. Rolla Campbell, who had just installed two pins in her broken ankle. “That was done by my daughter,” the surgeon explained.

Queen Elizabeth Showed Off a Talent She Shares with Prince George, Princess Kate and King Charles in Adorable Childhood Letter
A note the late Queen penned in 1936 is up for auction later this month.

This year’s Lunar New Year celebration is marking the year of the horse, but for Queen Elizabeth, it was always equestrian season. Although her passion for horses (and corgis) is well known, a sentimental letter she wrote as a 10-year-old child shows off a talent that members of today’s Royal Family have inherited.
The late Queen was a lifelong horse girl, and now a letter she wrote displaying special sketches of horses and dogs is up for auction. It was penned in 1936 by the then-Princess Elizabeth and sent to Beatrice Stillman, the head housemaid at Royal Lodge—where the princess and her family lived at the time.

Where Is ‘Single’s Inferno’ Filmed? All About the Netflix Hit’s Deserted Island and Luxury Paradise
Here’s where to go on your next couples trip to Seoul.

The best thing about reality dating shows, beyond the delicious drama of conventionally-hot aspiring influencers falling in and out of love, is the top-tier vacation inspo. Whether they take place in a bright, luxury villa or on a tropically decorated beachfront, shows like Love Island USA and Bachelor in Paradise allow viewers to melt away from their current surroundings and mentally transport to clear skies and crystal-blue waters.
Netflix’s hit dating show Single’s Inferno offers two main locations for escapist viewing. Each installment of the series isolates a group of singles on a sparsely-furnished and uninhabited island, referred to as “Inferno,” where they have to cook their own meals and take part in physical challenges. Throughout the season, the cast gets the chance to pair up for a date in “Paradise,” a luxury hotel where they can be waited on, eat meat, and enjoy all the air conditioning and amenities their hearts desire.

10 Best Red Nail Polishes for Every Skin Tone, According to Our Editors
From red-nail theory to the runway, the classic mani is making a comeback.

The best red nails are more than just a trend. They’re a statement. Every year around this time, I find myself reaching for my favorite bold, classic reds to liven up my hands during the gloomy winter months. I’ll even find myself going darker and wearing wine red when I feel I need something a little more sophisticated for an event or something that requires me to pull myself and my look together. And I usually stick to gel manicures, which says a lot about my dedication to this shade range.

In Defense of ‘Wuthering Heights’ and Fantastical Costumes That Are Sexier Than the Original
It’s one woman’s fantasy, not a historical record.

When the first photos from the set of Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights dropped online last March, they weren’t universally well-received. While some bought into the hype, setting alarms for ticket sales and marking their 2026 calendars, others were less than enthused. Across the internet, certain period-piece fans questioned not just the casting choice for Cathy (Margot Robbie is apparently, at 35, too old to play Emily Brontë’s anti-heroine), but, above all, the historical inaccuracies in the costuming.

Hannah Montana Stan(nas), We Are So Back! Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the 20th Anniversary Special
Today in “I am officially unc” news, Disney announced that the beloved sitcom Hannah Montana would be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special on Disney+. This makes me… roughly 70? Eighty? All I know is I used to watch this show while sending AIM Instant Messages on a dial-up connection.
So what’s in store for us millennials and zillennials dying to throw it back to the aughts and tune in? Below, find everything you need to know about the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special.

Love Story Is Doing Daryl Hannah Dirty
Like every other gay person with a Hulu account, I’ve been absolutely locked in on the first three episodes of Love Story, Connor Hines’s Ryan Murphy-produced drama about JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Stars Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly do a kind of eerie justice to their larger-than-life characters that I wouldn’t have thought possible before watching the show. But there’s one small yet significant detail of Love Story that keeps bothering me: Why, exactly, are we doing Daryl Hannah so dirty?
I’ve watched enough TV (and, for that matter, written enough bad spec scripts) to know that a show needs conflict to survive, and I don’t blame the Love Story writers for trying with Kennedy’s real-life on-and-off girlfriend. (Hannah is played by another great D.H., Dree Hemingway, in the series.) The likeness is decent enough, and I like the poetry of Kelly’s character being torn between two iconic blondes—but does Hannah really need to come off so, well, loopy, annoying, and actress-y on the show?

Sangwon, Hudson Williams, & Bad Bunny Bring Boy Blush to Big Stages
From Sangwon’s Boys Planet win to Hudson Williams’ runway debut and Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance, it seems the boys who have captured the internet’s hearts lately have one thing in common: blush.
Sure, wearing a wash of blush isn’t anything new. K-pop idols use it for cutesy stages, Alton Mason makes it high glam on red carpets, and the girls have always been doing it. But, perhaps because of Valentine’s Day or the harsh winter, we just couldn’t help but notice the latest heartthrobs’ most viral moments have been highlighted by a rosy warm touch on the cheeks.

Grateful Dead Forever
As the rhythm guitarist in the Grateful Dead, Bobby Weir was the heart of the band. After Jerry Garcia’s passing, he took their music further than anyone imagined

Bob Weir’s death on Jan. 10 dealt us a heavy and unexpected blow. After all, the Grateful Dead’s 60-year legacy is so deeply tied to the history of Rolling Stone that this magazine owes some of its very existence to their music. As the rhythm guitarist in the Dead, Bobby was the band’s heart. After Jerry Garcia’s passing, Bobby carried the Dead torch, but took it further than anyone could have imagined.

Too Many Clothing Hangers? Experts Share What to Do With Them
Less clutter, more closet space.

A thorough closet clean-out can be extremely satisfying—until, that is, you’re left with a surplus of hangers and no clue what to do with them. But before you throw them in the garbage or your municipal recycling bin, consider more thoughtful options.
We chatted with two sustainable style experts who shared what they like to do with their extra hangers and how to best deal with yours.

9 Social Hobbies That’ll Earn You New Skills—and New Friends
These fun pursuits make connection feel easy.

Despite the hours you’ve spent in bed reading or working on a jigsaw puzzle at the kitchen table, hobbies don’t have to be solo affairs. Whether you’re looking to expand your social circle, strengthen existing relationships, or just get out of the house more often, social hobbies offer built-in opportunities for connection. (Bonus: There’s no scrambling for small talk when you can trade sewing or gardening tips.)
Making space for hobbies pays off in spades, with research supporting the benefits. Harvard Health Publishing reports findings from a 2023 study where participants with hobbies reported better health and higher life satisfaction than those who didn’t. When paired with the opportunity for social connection, you’re also reducing your risk of chronic disease (really), according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Here are some hobbies that double as social lifelines—and might just lead to your next great friendship.

7 Clever Ways to Use Leftover Candle Wax
Give those last bits new life around your home.

We’ve all been there: digging hopelessly for a lost wick out of a favorite scented candle or tossing out a pile of melted-down tapers after a candlelit dinner party. At a certain point, the wax has melted down, the wick disappears, and what’s left seems destined for the trash bin. But even when a candle is technically finished, it might still have plenty of life left in it. “The fragrance is usually pretty faint by the end of a candle’s life, but leftover wax can still be useful,” says Julia Wycliff, founder of the blog Candle Culture.
From custom-made wax melts and DIY tea lights to clever household fixes, leftover candle wax can be repurposed in a range of surprisingly simple ways. It’s a sustainable way to utilize what you already have while reducing waste and stretching your budget. As a bonus, many of these crafts are cute enough to double as hosting gifts or party favors.

12 of the Hottest Places on Earth
Here’s a look at some of the world’s steamiest spots, from Death Valley to Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression.

When you dream of jetting off to somewhere warm and sunny, you likely picture a beach with temperatures in the 80s or maybe 90s—not a desert that gets up to 130 degrees. But for those with extremely hot destinations on their must-visit lists, these steamy cities and barren stretches of baking dirt are of particular interest. They’re the hottest places on Earth.
Death Valley in California is well known to be the world’s hottest place, but some of the other locations might surprise you, like a region in China and a very touristy part of Greece. Some are known for year-round heat, while others can be relatively pleasant throughout the cooler months before reaching summertime extremes. Plan to visit—or avoid—these sweltering spots from the United States to Australia.
