Molfar Bar and Restaurant – Brussels, Belgium
We’re feeling moody as hell today, kittens. It’s WEDNESDAY and once again, the urge to hunker down in a fabulous bunker is great. Let’s do it. Let’s shut out the shit and embrace the dark together! Or maybe let’s just order some apps and a cocktail. That works too.
How Lena Dunham’s Cats Gave Her a Reality Check
After moving to London, the writer’s growing posse of British felines took a walk on the wild side—and taught her a lesson in independence.
We’re all human, we all make mistakes.” That’s the go-to defense of every influencer slinging an apology. She was caught posting negatively about her best friend from a burner account? We’re all human. She cheated on her husband with a local mall cop? It could happen to any of us! Forgot to pay the interns who helped make her beaded choker brand a wild success? She’s listening and learning. We’re only as sick as our secrets, and we’re all human.
I watched a lot of these videos in my first full year living in London after moving for the always dubious reason known as love. I found myself nearly 35, noticing the hours that, back home, had been full of the noisy disharmony of family and friends were now ticked by the noise of watching other people argue with their friends—on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, on Dubai Bling, and on TikTok, of course—until I started to feel dense with toxic sludge where my blood should be.

A New Retrospective Explores How Diane Keaton Shaped Cinema Through Character and Style
Diane Keaton was always less a movie star than a shapeshifter, always slipping between archetypes and rewriting them along the way. This week at Film at Lincoln Center, that restless, singular energy is the subject of “Looking for Ms. Keaton,” a retrospective celebrating one of American cinema’s most idiosyncratic presences. (It begins on February 13, running through February 19.)
The weeklong series traces Keaton’s staggering range over a six-decade career: the comic bravura, the tender vulnerability, the quiet authority she later grew into. Together, the 15 films, many shown on 35mm, reveal an artist in dialogue with her time, interrogating romance, femininity, power, and aging long before such inquiries became fashionable. (And fashion, of course, was central to Keaton’s career, from the nervy, waistcoated ingénue who made menswear feel like a manifesto to her late-career roles swaddled in creamy, cozy silhouettes that augured coastal-grandmother chic.)

10 Best Night Creams for Glowing Skin, According to Dermatologists and Testers
Beauty sleep has never looked better.
The best night creams work while you sleep, so you wake up looking more rested, not just more moisturized. You might be wondering why the need for two different formulations. Day creams help protect the skin from environmental aggressors, such as UV rays and pollution, which is why you’ll often fine antioxidants and lightweight hydrators like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Night creams, on the other hand, support the skin’s natural repair processes that occur during sleep, says Marisa Garshick, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at New York’s MDCS Dermatology: Medical Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery. Most tend to be richer and contain “active ingredients like retinol, peptides, and higher concentrations of hydrating agents to deeply nourish and rejuvenate the skin,” Dr. Garshick says.

An Insider’s Guide to Puerto Rico: Where to Eat, Stay, and Play
If Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show taught us anything, it’s that Puerto Rico is more than a getaway. It’s a way of life.
Vivir a lo boricua took center stage as the Levi’s Stadium was transformed into scenes inspired by the Caribbean island (and Nuevayol)—right down to Toñita’s Social Club in Brooklyn.
Sung almost entirely in Spanish, the Grammy Award-winning artist belted his heart out, matching the rhythm of what makes Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico. Joining Bad Bunny was Ricky Martin, along with “Tití Gaga,” who salsaed her way across the stage in a baby blue Luar dress by Dominican-American designer Raul Lopez. All of the Americas even got a shoutout, culminating in a powerful sentiment: The only thing more powerful than hate is love.

11 Cocktails That Prove There’s More to Scotch Than Just Sipping It Neat
These recipes show the full range of versatility that Scotch whisky can give cocktails.
When one thinks of Scotch whisky, the first image that comes to mind is likely a neat pour of a fine single malt in an elegant rocks glass. Scotch has a clear reputation as a rich and complex spirit worth savoring. Just because it’s best known as a neat sipper doesn’t mean that you can’t make a killer cocktail with scotch.
While not called for as often as bourbon or rye, Scotch whisky has been used as a base spirit in cocktails for as long as cocktails have existed. It’s used in a surprisingly diverse range of cocktails, too. It has also been a standard across multiple eras of cocktail history, from classics like the Rob Roy to disco-era drinks like the Godfather, and even modern classics like the Penicillin.
Is Your Pantry Packed With Fake Ingredients?
Some of the most recognizable pantry staples — including honey, olive oil, and spices — are now among the products most routinely tampered with or passed off as something they’re not.
It’s easy to take for granted our year-round access to Mediterranean olive oil, even though the harvest season typically runs only from October to January. The same goes for vanilla bean, which shows up in countless forms whenever we want it, despite being harvested for just a few months each summer in major production regions like Madagascar.
Most of us rarely think about the global supply chain that has to function in near-perfect sync to keep these products reliably stocked on grocery store shelves every single day of the year. But that system isn’t flawless. And as consumers continue to demand fresh ingredients at rock-bottom prices—regardless of natural growing cycles—those cracks are widening. The result: a surge in food fraud, with shoppers ultimately paying the price. Here’s what you need to know.

Scientists Finally Explain Why Your Sourdough Never Tastes the Same Twice
The flour you feed your starter might matter more than you think.
The art of sourdough can feel exciting and inspiring. But as any avid sourdough baker will tell you, not every loaf is the same, and when your bread doesn’t turn out exactly as expected, it’s maddening. The variation you’ll see between loaves of sourdough is thanks to the many variables that can affect the bread, such as humidity, temperature, and the living starter you use to make it rise. And it turns out that what you feed your sourdough starter can have a dramatic effect on a loaf’s final flavor.
How to style corset tops and latex if you’re in your “Wuthering Heights” era
Margot Robbie’s version of Cathy is basically a period-crossing fashion Pinterest board.
Even though ‘Wuthering Heights’ hasn’t reached British cinemas yet (it’s opening on Friday, 13th February), Emerald Fennell’s take on the Brontë literary classic has already created a massive buzz. Partially thanks to the masterful press tour that has followed Margot Robbie’s method dressing transformation into a sexy goth, but also due to the looseness of Fennell’s adaptation of the novel. The filmmaker and her team took classic elements of Victorian Gothic style, usually associated with the story, and embellished them with Georgian, Elizabethan, and even contemporary elements. The costume design, imagined by Oscar-winning Jacqueline Durran, definitely fits into the idea of imagination and creativity that some purists might find offensive. But when the film director explained that the film is in fact a “fever dream” homage to her personal interpretation of the novel she first read as a teenager, the extreme exuberance suddenly made sense.
Bored Of Blue Denim? Chocolate Brown Jeans Go With Everything, These Are The 9 Best Pairs To Shop
Shelf your true blues for an equally versatile hue.
Sometimes it’s not your chosen handbag or heel shape that signals whether you’ve got your finger on the style pulse, but the colour palette you’ve opted for. And if there’s one shade that has defined this winter, it’s fashion’s new favourite neutral: chocolate brown.
The tone – which can be delectably rich or surprisingly mellow – has most likely impacted your choice of jacket and bag already this season, but the latest, and perhaps most surprising iteration, is jeans.
Shop floors have been steadily introducing chocolate brown jeans during the colder months, giving their denim sections a renewed sense of opulence, while a quick scroll of Instagram and recent street style imagery makes the case for how a pair of cocoa-toned jeans can anchor an outfit.
Decoding the symbolism of the Tudor heart pendant saved by the British Museum: how a gold necklace offers rare insight into the marriage of King Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon
The pendant, unearthed by a metal detectorist, has now been acquired by the British museum for £3.5 million after a fundraising campaign
Engraved with the initials ‘H’ and ‘K’, this exquisite gold heart pendant is believed to be one of the few surviving artefacts linking King Henry VIII to his first wife, Katherine of Aragon.
More recently, the pendant has been at the centre of a major art world tussle as the British Museum scrambled to raise the funds needed to acquire the Tudor treasure for its permanent collection.
Queen Victoria, the bridal trailblazer: how the monarch broke with tradition to wear a white wedding dress
On 10th February 1840, Queen Victoria became the first royal bride to wear a white gown on her wedding day
One of Britain’s most storied royal marriages started on this day in 1840 when Queen Victoria exchanged vows with Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Goth in the Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace.
Despite it being customary for brides of the period to wear their Sunday best, Queen Victoria broke with protocol, instead opting for an ivory and Honiton lace gown of her own design. The move would change the look of weddings forevermore.
A keen follower of fashion, Queen Victoria’s design was an ‘imitation of an old dress’ according to her diary and was made by her dressmaker in Jermyn Street. Subsequent royal brides followed in her footsteps, including all of her daughters and daughters-in-law, and it became customary for non-royal brides to where white on their wedding day, too.
Seeing the Light
White in art is never just a blank slate
Walk the Getty galleries and white greets you at every turn: in the edge of a woman’s diaphanous veil, the marble coolness of a bust, or the dusting of snow on Monet’s wheatstacks. Eyes use a color perception system, so those wheatstacks might be awash in orange and blue tinges, but our brains adjust to “read” the harvested grain and ground covering as white. Its presence also helps us to read other works of art—discerning sun glints on a wineglass, the folds of an angel’s robe, the roundedness of a horse’s flank. But what has white really meant in art? Let’s dig into its rich, sometimes dangerous, and always illuminating past.
‘Sinners’ Exhibit Featuring Props, Costumes and Set Pieces Is Now Part of Warner Bros. Studio Tour
“Sinners” is now a part of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.
The new exhibit featuring costumes for Smoke and Stack (MIchael B. Jordan), Sammie (Miles Caton) and Annie (Wunmi Mosaku) are all on display. Set elements, props and prosthetics are also on display and will allow guests to step into the world of Clarkesville and Club Juke.
Costume designer Ruth E. Carter previously spoke with Variety about her approach to her work. She focused on the Mississippi Delta and how “people turn their pain into joy. That rang so clear for me to depict.” Migration patterns were also taken into consideration in her work. “I started thinking about the plantation system and how blues [musicians] were rotated around to different plantations in the South.” Reds and blues were key to the film’s palette.
Martha Says This Is How Often to Vacuum Your Floors
The vacuuming cadence that keeps homes feeling fresh.
Regularly cleaning your floors is a relatively small chore with a big impact. In fact, it’s one that Martha recommends for when you’re pressed for time and company is on their way. “Even if you don’t have the weekend to thoroughly scour your home, you can still tidy in a jiffy by being intentional,” she shares in Martha Stewart’s Organizing, noting that clean floors are “a sure way to make a room instantly more presentable.”
“Vacuuming is faster and more efficient than sweeping for removing dust and dirt from wood floors,” she adds, “plus you can use it to hit any other dusty surfaces.”
7 Things You Should Always Keep in Your Hall Closet (and How to Store Them Neatly)
Make your hall closet work harder for you.
