We don’t always have the time to cover stage outfits or press room outfits at the major awards shows. Some of that has to do with time constraints and sometimes it’s difficult to get full-length shots or to source the designer. But Lady Gaga’s two archival/vintage choices for her time off the red carpet at the Grammys definitely deserve some consideration.
IN MCQUEEN

We just love that she hauled out that old Philip Treacy basket hat. We may have squealed a little when we saw it. She’s definitely in her feathered era. The colors and silhouette look great with the hair. It’s a gorgeously high-fashion look, with or without the hat, and it’s exquisitely suited to her.
IN GIVENCHY COUTURE

That’s the most ecclesiastic-ass gown we’ve ever seen. It doesn’t suit her, but we’d probably lose our shit if Pope Tilda Swinton ever wore it. We don’t like center slits – get your minds out of the gutter – but we love that the skirt opens to reveal a pair of pants. She’s got a real knack for making super-high collars look fantastic. Again, this is very well-suited to the hair and eyebrow-situation. We can remember when Gaga dressed like an art student, but she’s matured into someone who really knows how to utilize the highest of high fashion and bend it to her aesthetic.
