PinThe Bar at Hotel de Draak – Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands

Let’s hunker down in a bunker today, shall we? Seems prudent. It is, after all, WEDNESDAY, which calls for at least a little bit of time away from all the nonsense. Plant your ass on a fringed stool and get to work.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Costume Designer Talks Creating Style for Steamy Gay Hockey Drama: “It’s a Little Bit Queer Coded”
From that comfy fleece jacket gone viral online to brash Hawaiian shirts and tank tops, Hanna Puley dishes on Shane and Ilya’s outfits.

Heated Rivalry breakout stars Hudson Williams in an Armani tuxedo jacket and Connor Storrie in Saint Laurent formal wear may have wowed Hollywood with their surprise appearance on Sunday night at the Golden Globes. But fans of the hit queer Canadian romancer know the closeted pro hockey players they play on the steamy Crave and HBO Max drama have closets with no designer threads or brands in sight. And that’s down to Heated Rivalry costume designer Hanna Puley, who has the job of clothing the forbidden lovers in mostly affordable and understated duds as they carry off a secret fling off the ice.

‘Adolescence’ Behind-The-Scenes Secrets – From Real-Life Filming Locations To Drone Cameras
The limited-series, starring Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper, scooped several Golden Globes at the weekend

It’s not only the premise of the eerily prescient series that’s resonated with viewers though, but the process of filming it, too. Adolescence’s director Philip Barantini’s signature filming style consists of ambitious one-shot takes, which the director explained in a Q&A with the streaming service. ‘Basically that means we press record on the camera, and we don’t press stop until the very end of the hour,’ Barantini said. ‘But it’s much more complicated than it sounds. It takes months of preparation and weeks of rehearsals and an incredible team of people to pull it off at every stage, from the script to the locations to the production design to where exactly the camera is going to be able to shoot and from what angle.’

Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande are officially reuniting in a London musical
We couldn’t be happier.

This may be some of the best news of the New Year so far: Wicked may be over, but Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey aren’t done working together just yet. After months of rumours, it seems that the pair really are officially set to reunite this summer in a musical in London – and we are completely obsessulated.
Bailey shared the news with an Instagram post on 14 January that showed him and Grande sitting in front of Georges Seurat’s 1884 painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” at the Art Institute of Chicago. The post seemingly confirms the reports that Bailey and Grande are set to star in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sunday in the Park With George at London’s Barbican next summer.

Micro Bangs Might Be Trending, But They’re Tricky To Pull Off—The Short French Fringe Is The Chic Wearable Alternative
2026’s most in-demand fringe

The micro fringe has been quietly making its way into the mainstream for the past 12 months or so, but hairstylists are calling 2026 the year of the short French fringe. Thanks, in short (no pun intended), to several red carpet appearances and sightings on the runway, this striking look is set to be big this year.
It started at last year’s Oscars, which saw not one, not two, but three shorter cropped fringes in attendance. Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and model Anok Yai all chose to sport baby bangs, but each one interpreted it slightly differently to reflect their individual looks. Pamela Anderson’s makeup-free face might have been the talk of the Met Gala red carpet, but her baby bangs were just as iconic. Short fringes featured heavily at the spring/summer 2026 shows—feathered at Balmain, wispy at Louis Vuitton, super straight at Acne and neatly cropped at Dries Van Noten.

Is the Root Perm the Answer to Long-Lasting Volume?
Undetectable lift incoming

Flat roots have officially earned their place on the long list of beauty problems we’re exhausted from negotiating every morning. There’s the volumising shampoo that only works under mysteriously perfect conditions. The mousse you meant to use but didn’t. The blow-dry that collapses the second you step outside. And while the market is overflowing with products promising lift, fullness and bounce, the results rarely make it past lunchtime.

Wear granny jeans with these trendy blouses for spring 2026
Granny jeans – yes, you heard us right – are a must-have basic for the upcoming season, and this is how to wear them.

Step aside, granny shoes, it’s granny jeans that are now taking over as one of the key womenswear pieces for the spring 2026 season, proving once again that fashion is cyclical, and that comfort goes hand in hand with elegance. An update on the now-classic mom jean, these high-waisted trousers have a straight-legged or slightly loose silhouette, along with a nostalgic air about them. And they’re currently having a major moment across catwalks, social media and the street style of all of our favourite fashion capitals.
Their charm lies in their versatility: they are comfortable for everyday wear while allowing you to build sophisticated looks totally effortlessly. How do you elevate a granny jean, you might ask? Fans of the People We Meet On Vacation book are all saying the same thing
An Emily Henry superfan weighs in.

Alright, let’s rip off the Band-Aid and talk about the People We Meet on Vacation film adaptation. Speaking as both an Emily Henry megafan and an entertainment journalist, I feel more than ready to unpack the one major misstep that stopped this from being an absolute winner.
But first — the positives. The cast of People We Meet on Vacation does a genuinely terrific job. With big names like Emily Bader, Tom Blyth, Jameela Jamil, Sarah Catherine Hook and more, the star-studded lineup delivers exactly what you’d hope for. The screenplay, developed with input from Henry herself, successfully translates much of the novel’s charm to screen, while the stunning filming locations add a glossy, escapist polish. Also, the PWMOV soundtrack was phenomenal — Paula Abdul dance scene included.

It’s fair to say that one of the most dominant hues this season has been brown. What to Wear to Yoga Class, According to Instructors and Yogis
Here’s what to wear to get the most out of your practice.

I once thought the answer for what to wear to a yoga class was simple: leggings, full stop. That was before I ever took a class, of course. Now that I practice (almost) daily, I’ve come to realize that anything from baggy graphic tees to a sports bra and bike shorts can work. The exact combination differs depending on the style of yoga I’m doing, the weather outside, and my mood that day. Sometimes that means the occasion calls for yoga leggings, sometimes not.
The point is, vinyasa beginners and yogi pros alike can benefit from having a guide to what to wear to yoga class. Because the less you have to think about your outfit, the more mental space you have to focus on your practice.

Yes, Your Wine Tastes Better at a Restaurant
Here’s the reason why and how to capture the magic at home.

There’s a particular kind of betrayal that occurs when you bring a bottle home from a great night out. In the restaurant, it was bright, layered, perhaps even a little life-changing. At home, on a Tuesday evening next to a pile of dishes, that same wine can feel, well, fine. What happened to the magic?
There are many versions of this story. Someone tries to “recreate the moment from their vacation when they were sipping the Tuscan wine on the veranda,” as veteran New York City server and restaurant manager Allen Stafford puts it. “You could have the exact same Tuscan bottle of wine, and it’s not gonna be the same.” This isn’t such a bad thing — if the magic were that easy to replicate, restaurants would lose half their allure.

There Are Little Things Restaurant Servers Will Do for You — If You’ve Earned It
Discover the off-menu sauces, quiet acts of kindness, and other extras that servers save for guests who treat them with respect.

Any restaurant might offer free bread or complimentary olives, but there are plenty of other things customers might receive that they don’t have to pay for and they aren’t even for sale. They are earned with reciprocal kindness and respect between customer and server.
I’ve been circling the orbit of the restaurant world for decades and know a lot of servers and have worked alongside many. When I asked them recently to share with me some of the ways they go the extra mile for customers who have earned it, the list was impressively long and it made my cold heart a little bit warmer. Big and small, there are lots of extras that aren’t on the menu.

The Highest and Lowest Paid Members of the Royal Family (And How Their Salaries Are Funded)
The British royal family is estimated to be worth billions. Even though they don’t own Crown assets like Buckingham Palace, they have a private portfolio of properties, jewelry, art, and other valuables that keep their individual net worths in the seven-figure range.
Then there’s the Sovereign Grant, funded by taxpayers each year and used to support the monarch’s official duties. It’s how occupied palaces are maintained (like Buckingham Palace, which is undergoing a 10-year, $463 million renovation) and official engagements are funded, per NBC News. The outlet also reported that the Sovereign Grant would increase by approximately $60 million in the 2026-2027 year.

Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson Will Make Their Broadway Debuts in The Fear of 13 This Spring
Last March, Adrien Brody took the stage of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to claim the best-actor Oscar for his performance in The Brutalist. A year later, the actor will make his Broadway debut in Lindsey Ferrentino’s The Fear of 13—with Tessa Thompson, hotly tipped this awards season for her turn in Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, starring opposite him. Previews of the production, directed by David Cromer (Good Night, and Good Luck; this season’s Bug), begin at the James Earl Jones Theatre on March 19, with an opening night set for April 15.
Based on David Sington’s 2015 documentary of the same name, The Fear of 13 tells the story of Nick Yarris (Brody), a man who spent more than 20 years on death row for crimes he maintained that he did not commit. (Thompson will play Jackie, a prison volunteer with whom Nick forms a profound—and lasting—connection.) The show had its world premiere at London’s 250-seat Donmar Warehouse in the fall of 2024, a staging directed by Justin Martin (Prima Facie) that also starred Brody (who earned an Olivier nomination for his lead turn).

‘Stranger Things’ Documentary Director Answers All Your Questions — Including the ChatGPT One
The Hollywood Reporter’s got you, Reddit.

I learned a lot from watching Martina Radwan’s Stranger Things documentary, One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, which is currently streaming on Netflix. (OK, so I learned five things.) I learned even more from speaking with the filmmaker herself.
One thing I don’t need anyone to teach me is that Stranger Things viewers — the very online ones, especially — don’t want to hear from me but are dying to hear from Radwan right now. After consuming One Last Adventure, the rabid fanbase is champing at the bit to straighten out certain revelations about the creative process of Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer. You’ve got questions, I’ve got questions, and Radwan’s got (some) answers.

Revealed: 9 royals who have abdicated the throne – out of love, fear and political necessity
On the anniversary of Queen Margrethe II stepping down, Tatler shares the fascinating history of some of the other royals who have abdicated

On this day in 2024, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark abdicated the throne in favour of her son, the now King Frederik X of Denmark. The queen, who had ruled Denmark for 52 years, announced her intention in a bombshell new year’s eve address just two weeks beforehand. The news followed months of unpredictability within the Danish royal family, which was triggered when Margrethe announced that she was stripping some of her grandchildren of their royal titles in order to streamline the monarchy. Although the family seems to have reconciled, the ramifications of Margrethe’s decision are still felt. On the anniversary of her abdication, Tatler reveals some of the other royals who have stepped aside – out of love, fear, or political necessity.

In Cecil Beaton’s show-stopping designs for My Fair Lady lies a story of tantrums and top hats
In honour of the anniversary of Cecil Beaton’s birth, rediscover the glamour of one of his greatest triumphs

Thursday, 15 March 1956: The opening night of My Fair Lady on Broadway. Cecil Beaton had spent month after exhausting month designing and supervising the costumes for a production he was hugely enthusiastic about but not yet entirely convinced by. The run-up had been challenging. Both revolving stages malfunctioned, the sets were flimsy, the curtains got caught up and wouldn’t come down, and the dress rehearsal was a disaster. Blizzards kept audiences away from the try-out evenings. Rex Harrison, playing Henry Higgins, was plagued with fear and self-doubt, manifesting itself in monstrous displays of egotism. Beaton found him ‘beneath contempt’, and only by a miracle, he said, did he prevent an ugly confrontation, while an exasperated 20-year-old Julie Andrews, playing Eliza Doolittle, rehearsing the last-act fight with Harrison, threw her slippers in his face with such force the entire chorus applauded her from the stalls.

Carrie Coon Takes Justin Theroux Inside the Year’s Most Anxiety-Inducing Play
When Justin Theroux got on a Zoom call with Carrie Coon the morning after seeing her new play Bug, he began to notice some through lines in the actor’s body of work. From 2014 to 2017, the two co-starred in The Leftovers, Damon Lindelof’s prodigious HBO series about the end of the world. And Coon, of course, plays Bertha Russell in The Gilded Age, an upstairs-downstairs drama about the ruthless ruling class in late-19th century Manhattan. Bug, however, brings the actor’s artistic preoccupations to untold degrees of panic and paranoia. The play, running at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre until February 22nd, was written almost 30 years ago by Coon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning husband Tracy Letts, though the story—of two layabouts in a seedy motel room being driven progressively insane by drugs, suspicion, and conspiracy theories—registers with a sneaky prescience. “That big, beautiful monologue that’s given in the second act,” Theroux said, “it reads like it’s from QAnon.” It’s a tour de force performance—the cast, Coon confessed, is “beat to shit”—and one of the more anxiety-inducing productions to hit the New York stage in years. So how did she pull it off? Theroux came prepared with questions, some of which, he admitted, were “ripped from the lips of Barbara Walters.”

7 Holiday Decorations That Shouldn’t Be Stored in the Attic
And the best ways to store décor to keep it all safe.

The post-holiday cleanup often comes with the familiar temptation to shove all the tinsel and twinkling lights into the closest available box and, as quickly as possible, close the attic door on it all until next December. But while the attic may feel like the most convenient storage solution, it may actually be inhabitable for some of your most cherished holiday decorations.
“When you take the time to put away decorations in an orderly fashion, they’ll be all the easier to put back up again next season—and in the same pristine shape,” notes Martha. Aside from saving a headache next year, proper storage locations make a difference, too. Ahead, learn how to store holiday décor and which items shouldn’t be stored in attics for optimal preservation.
