Mia Goth gives us nothing. The Frankenstein star hit the red carpets at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards and the Critics Choice Awards in the kinds of looks that say “I’m not getting myself too worked up over this thing.”

To be fair, she’s always had a slightly odd, vaguely minimalist approach to her red carpet style, but even for her, these two entries are distinctly low effort. She’s not a gal for a lot of slap and sparkle, which is certainly no crime or problem, but she hasn’t really found a way to make an impact on the red carpet without those tools at hand. This dress is a big nothing that definitely needs something in the styling to make it work, which is why it’s a bad choice for her because she doesn’t like a lot of styling fuss. Much in the manner of Pamela Anderson, who prefers to go makeup-free (or close enough) on the red carpet, she should be picking garments that provide all the impact she needs.

The problem, which is the same one that Pamela Anderson routinely faces, is that red carpets generally call for the kind of dress that requires jewelry and styling in order to work. Both of these frocks are more or less fine, but the overall looks are forgettable because no styling has been done for them.
