Hmm. On the one hand, we want to commend If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star Rose Byrne for picking an extremely appropriate and elegantly chic look for the New York Film Critics Awards.

It’s perfectly calibrated to sit on that continuum of movie star-to-prestige-actress. It’s glam, but not too much so. It’s serious, but still sparkly. And the styling is oh-so very restrained in a way that plays well with a crowd of New York critics. Everything about this is well chosen. ON THE OTHER HAND… it’s all so appropriate and restrained in a way that feels a little limiting for her. Her style has never been completely wacky, but there was always a sense of quirkiness to it. Still, she’s playing the game and we can’t claim with a straight face (or even a couple of gay ones) that she looks bad. The beading pattern really makes the look. Hair and makeup are flawless.
