Cate Blanchett received the Freedom of the City of London award in recognition of her contribution to drama, and her work on humanitarian and global environmental issues. The Good Lady took a somewhat more relaxed approach to her style, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s not like glamour would have been appropriate in this setting. Still, we feel like we should warn you about the scrolldown. You may be disappointed.
It’s a fantastic suit that’s been absolutely ruined by what look like shoes for an elderly clown with orthopedic problems. Look, we’re all for comfy shoes. We actually think a high heel would look wrong with a suit like this, so it’s not like we’re arguing for her to jam her foot into a pump or something, but these things are awful. They might be fun with a different sort of outfit, but even then, we don’t think the ortho vibe is escapable. Cate, just slip on some loafers or something. We might even consider a pair of stylish kicks a decent option, although they’d feel informal for the setting.
