Isabella Rossellini doesn’t get to pay tribute to her film director father Roberto Rosselini nearly as much as her mother Ingrid Berman, so we figure she must be thrilled to bring her particular brand of drama butter to the Rome Film Festival premiere of a documentary celebrating her father’s life and work.

Unfortunately, we’re not loving it. The floral is pretty, but it’s not utilized particularly well. There’s certainly nothing wrong with wearing a caftan, but we don’t think it works if you’re going to wear pants underneath. The leopard trim and lining turn the piece gaudy and the center seam is kind of awful, if it’s even a seam at all, because this whole thing looks pinned together. Without the leopard, this might have worked as a duster over some sort of outfit underneath, but that unresolved neckline just kills it for us. The least amount of effort possible was put into the designing of this look and it shows. She deserves better.
