Naomi Watts will play Jackie Kennedy in Ryan Murphy’s American Love Story
The series, set to launch on FX, will follow the whirlwind romance and tragic deaths of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and JFK Jr
Jackie Kennedy is a woman ingrained in American mythology, and the chance to portray her is one of the ultimate goals for any of Hollywood’s leading ladies. Now, it has been announced that former Tatler cover star, Naomi Watts, will play the icon in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series American Love Story, which is set to tell the tale of the ultimate 90s New York It couple: JFK Jr, son of First Lady Jackie Kennedy and President John F Kennedy, and Carolyn Bessette. From their whirlwind courtship to their tragic death, theirs is a story that dominated the headlines.
Watts is no stranger to working with Murphy, having starred previously as Barbara “Babe” Paley in The Swans and graced the screen in his thriller The Watcher. She is also set to star in Murphy’s upcoming legal drama, All’s Fair. Her role in American Love Story, confirmed today by American journalist Evan Ross Katz, will certainly be one of her most heartbreaking to date.
Scarlett Johansson On Why The Script For Her Directorial Debut ‘Eleanor The Great’ Made Her Cry: “It’s About Forgiveness”
Scarlett Johansson has wanted to direct since she was 12 years old. On the set of Robert Redford’s 1998 film The Horse Whisperer — her seventh movie as an actor — she saw the specific way he worked, the way he understood his actors, and she had a clear thought: I want to do that someday.
Obviously, in the almost 30 years since Johansson made that private wish, it’s not as though she’s been waiting for something to happen. Oscar-nominated twice and a Tony winner for her work on Broadway, she serves as executive producer and stars as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She founded her production company These Pictures in 2017, and, along with Redford, her director collaborators over the years include Christopher Nolan, Sofia Coppola, Jonathan Glazer, the Coens, Noah Baumbach and Wes Anderson. She’ll reconvene with the latter at Cannes, since she’s appearing in his latest — their third go-round together — The Phoenician Scheme.
Madeline Brewer ‘Had to Process Not Being Liked’ After the You Season 5 Backlash
Madeline Brewer expected a strong reaction to the You series finale, but being called “ugly” and “a bad actor” was a different story. Nearly three weeks later, she unpacks the misogynistic Bronte fallout with Glamour.
Brewer received her particular torrent of inappropriate comments for portraying Bronte (real name: Louise), the woman that finally took down Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley). In the series finale of You, Bronte shoots the serial killer in the penis to avoid killing him, thus making sure he’d rot in prison for the murder of so many women (and a few men).
Brewer was prepared for an angry response from fans of the show who regularly mistake Joe for the hero of the story, or even good-faith criticisms of her character’s choices throughout the season. She was not expecting to be called ugly in her own comments section. Or even worse: a bad actor.
The Legally Blonde prequel officially has a premiere date, and the excitement is real
Lexi Minetree will pick up the mantle from Reese Witherspoon.
Elle Woods of Legally Blonde fame once said, “The rules of hair care are simple and finite.” And so are the rules of entertainment. If there’s one thing about us ’90s girls, we all love a good nostalgic reboot. Yes, you guessed it, Legally Blonde is getting the prequel treatment.
More than two decades after the film, everyone’s favourite lawyer, Woods comma Elle, is returning to our screens. And the prequel will be called Elle.
How excited are we? Even better, we now know who will be playing Elle this time around. Reese shared a video on Instagram of the moment she told Law and Order star Lexi Minetree that she would be playing Elle in the series, which will focus on her high school life before applying for college and Harvard.
Don’t be put off by the fragrances your grandmother wore, these 8 vintage perfumes prove her excellent taste
Perfumes that have stood the test of time
You know the fragrances we associate with older relatives or days gone by? Well, these vintage scents are now trending, and it couldn’t come a moment too soon. Despite our grandmothers and mothers wearing them in the past, they are just as relevant today.
Often icons of their days, these perfumes made feminist and political statements. They sparked new genres, fought the status quo, and when women wore them, they’d be empowered. This power is just as prevalent today. We too can feel the same as our mums and grandmothers.
These are some of my favourite vintage fragrances that smell totally right for today.
After years of harsh gel manicures, I’m on a healing journey—this new polish range is like *skincare for nails*
An antidote for brittle, peeling talons
It all started when I decided to get acrylics in Louisiana. That’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d ever write, and while nothing worthy of a Cormac McCarthy novel occurred during my time in the Deep South, irrevocable damage was done to my nail beds, and that, my friends, is something worth crying about.
You see, for the first time, but certainly not the last, a nail technician removed my gel manicure with a drill, whittling down my nails till they were more flat than sphere-like. While some removed them properly, using the soak-off method, the damage was done: I was getting gels and nail art applied nearly every other week, and what I was left with underneath was thin, brittle and peeling nails, which were incapable of growing without breaking off.
Creamy, decadent, and surprisingly complex—here’s why I’m obsessed with marshmallow perfumes
Soft, feminine energy, bottled
As a perfume-obsessed beauty editor, I have to admit, my relationship with sweet fragrances has been a bit complicated (to say the least). In my teens, they were all I could wear. I was very much in my Victoria Secret body mist era, and Mugler Angel was practically running through my veins. Yet, in my early twenties, my taste in perfume drastically shifted.
All of a sudden, I started feeding into the ongoing stereotype that often deems sweeter scents immature, headache-inducing and plain predictable. My gourmands were swiftly replaced by darker, earthier scents, and notes of oud and patchouli took centre stage. Safe to say, my fragrance wardrobe went in the opposite direction.
How to use hair oil the right way, according to pro hairstylists
All the benefits, none of the grease.
The best hair oils have plenty of benefits, but if you always end up a greasy mess, it’s time to learn how to use hair oil. The multitasking hair care product is known for reducing frizz, boosting shine, and hydrating dry ends, but some natural hair oils can actually help with hair growth.
“Castor oil, in particular, is rich in fatty acids and can help improve hair density, and jojoba oil encourages a balanced hydration and a healthy environment for hair to grow in,” says Rogerio Cavalcante, a hairstylist and owner of the Second Floor Salon in NYC. Meanwhile, studies suggest that rosemary oil can stimulate hair follicles and may work as well as minoxidil, the only FDA-approved topical treatment for hair loss.
What Scarlett Johansson Wants: AI Boundaries, Respect for Blockbusters—and Revenge on Michael Che
The director of Eleanor the Great and star of Jurassic World Rebirth on being sexualized as a teen, how “we’re being muzzled” by Trump’s tech allies, and more.
Johansson keeps close tabs on the Hollywood landscape. She’s trying to make hits in the most unpredictable moviegoing climate in recent memory and wants to resurrect the kind of ’90s big-screen magic that was more prevalent around the beginning of her career and her own adolescence. This is not new: Johansson was only 12 years old when she first realized she wanted to be a director. She had already appeared in a half dozen films as a kid and was on the precipice of her big break in Robert Redford’s sweeping Western tearjerker The Horse Whisperer. Redford was also directing that movie, and Johansson could sense his vision, his command behind the camera, his sensitivity as a mentor. “He would sit me down and take such time talking me through all of the events that led up to the moment in the film—and where I was mentally,” she says. “I’d never experienced anything like that.”
‘I Said A Prayer To Prepare Myself’: Kim Kardashian Testifies In Paris Burglary Trial
The Skims co-founder is testifying in court today in the criminal trial of the burglary she experienced during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016.
Almost a decade after the ordeal, Kim Kardashian is finally telling the world her side of the story in the criminal trial of the burglary she experienced to during Paris Fashion Week in 2016.
Taking to the stand in Paris today, the Skims co-founder shared that she thought she was going to be raped and murdered when she was tied up and gagged by a group of burglars, as they stole approximately £8 million worth of Kardashian’s jewellery, including her engagement ring from her ex-husband Kanye West.

Sydney Sweeney Reveals Her Favorite Jeans and the Fashion Trend She Won’t Be Trying This Summer
The ‘Euphoria’ actor on personal style, what it’s like to be a Miu Miu girl, and her new fashion campaign with Samsung.
Sydney Sweeney had the sort of high-low personal style fashion editors love. She swears by American Eagle for the most comfortable jeans (they cost only $60), but she’s also on the guest list at the hottest Miu Miu shows and a regular at the Venice Film Festival.
Just last week, she walked the Met Gala steps in a shimmering beaded gown inspired by Kim Novak, only to end the night walking her German Shepherd puppy outside the Carlyle Hotel in a comfy suit, rather than hitting one of the event’s countless after parties. Her IMDb page is similarly broad in scope, varying from prestige TV (Euphoria and The White Lotus) to the delightfully campy Glen Powell–directed rom-com Anyone But You. She’s got range, so to speak, in fashion and in life.
A Cinephile’s Guide to Paris
What better city for cinephiles than Paris? Filmmaking and the French capital are inextricably intertwined: It’s where cinema was born, of course, when les frères Lumières first screened their short films in 1895; where New Wave filmmakers Truffaut, Godard, and Varda ushered in a new era of auteur movie making; the home of the César awards and the economic hub of the industry. But more than that, cinema culture is Paris culture, as it seems every Parisian has a more-than-just-passing interest in film. Every week, some 700 films are shown, among them not only new releases but also independent cinemas (there’s over 30 of them spread across the city) regularly screening vintage, classic, and cult-favorite films; not to mention the plethora of special programming throughout the year, including festivals, anniversary screenings, and retrospectives.
From Natalie to Minka, Katie, and Jeanne: 11 Actors Who Have Played Jackie Kennedy Onscreen
We’ve now finally learned who will be joining Sarah Pidgeon’s Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in Ryan Murphy’s hotly anticipated forthcoming series American Love Story, dramatizing the lives, love, and (we have to presume) tragic deaths of CBK and her husband, John F. Kennedy Jr., in the 1990s. While newcomer Paul Anthony Kelly will star as the latter—a rakish attorney, magazine publisher, and all-around man-about-town—one Naomi Watts, who only recently played Babe Paley in Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, is set to go raven as John-John’s mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
Watts would be, of course, only the latest in a long line of actors to transform into the much-admired (and much-copied) style icon: Portrayals of Jackie in film and television have stretched back more than 40 years. Here, as we await further news from Murphyland, we revisit some of the most memorable depictions of the late Jackie O. so far.
How to Make Better Scrambled Eggs, According to Professional Chefs
Say farewell to overcooked eggs.
Scrambled eggs might be one of the easiest dishes to make. Whip some eggs, add them to a pan with oil or butter, and scramble them up until they’re cooked. And yet, chefs and home cooks alike have some strong opinions about what makes the best scramble.
“For me, scrambled eggs should be minimalistic, and may take a lifetime to perfect,” says 2017 F&W Best New Chef Rico Torres.
You can scramble eggs in countless ways — soft or hard, over low heat or high heat, with or without cheese, using olive oil or butter — but there are a few chef-approved techniques that are guaranteed to take your eggs to the next level. Here are five tips to consider for your next scramble.
How Some Veggie Burgers Have Stood the Test of Time at Fast Food Restaurants
Following the rise and fall of plant-based meat alternatives, customers may be searching for real vegetables.
If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, it’s likely that Taco Bell is your favorite fast food chain. You can substitute beans for ground beef in any menu item at the Mexican-inspired restaurant giant, providing meat-free patrons a vast array of options to choose from. But what if you’re not in the mood for a Crunchwrap Supreme or some Doritos Locos Tacos, and you’re craving the most iconic fast food item of all time: a burger? […]
The number of vegetarians and vegans in America isn’t skyrocketing, but it is likely increasing slowly. Many consumers may also be part-time plant-based eaters, purchasing dairy-free products due to intolerances or choosing to skip red meat. The result? A market for plant-based products that’s valued at $8.1 billion.
Nutella Announced a New US Flavor for the First Time in 61 Years
The classic spread is getting a bold update crafted just for American tastes.
Nutella has some fantastic news for those living in the United States.
In May, the brand announced that it is launching its first flavor innovation in its more than 60-year history with Nutella Peanut. According to a statement from its parent company, Ferrero, the flavor “combines the distinctive creaminess of Nutella cocoa hazelnut spread with the delicious taste of roasted peanuts.” It is slated to hit store shelves starting in the spring of 2026. According to its executives, this product is critical to its continued growth in the U.S. market.
Wes Anderson on ‘The Phoenician Scheme,’ His Cannes Party Bus and Why You Should Always See His Movies Twice
The elusive auteur, named one of THR’s Legends of the Croisette, explains the family inspiration for his latest film and why he hits the Palais in a star-studded coach: “It’s as discreet as a bus with a bunch of movie stars on it can be.”
The Phoenician Scheme, out May 30 via Focus Features, stars Benicio del Toro as European tycoon Zsa-Zsa Korda, who has built a globe-spanning empire using dubious business practices. After barely surviving the latest in a litany of assassination attempts, he appoints an heir to his estate, his estranged and only daughter, Liesl, a nun on the verge of taking her vows, played by Mia Threapleton. The movie is populated with returning Anderson players like Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bryan Cranston and Tom Hanks, as well as new entrants to the troupe, including Michael Cera and Riz Ahmed.
Anderson, 56, talked to THR about the anxiety of sitting through his own premiere, the familial inspiration of the new film and his bold decision to arrive via coach: “It’s as discreet as a bus with a bunch of movie stars on it can be.”
American Girl Addy Walker’s Dress Is A Political Statement
Addy Walker, American Girl’s first Black doll, has an enduring legacy, even in her style and appearance.
Pleasant Company’s mission was to make history accessible to young girls, using dolls. Each American Girl character had a series of books, and corresponding dolls, that explored her story in a particular time throughout history. The company started in 1986, and by the early 1990s, American Girl was everywhere. There were full spreads in catalogs, commercials on TV, and copies of the books in school libraries everywhere. Addy Walker was American Girl’s first Black doll, and for many, she is a cultural icon. Everything about her creation, story, and appearance was intentional, and her dress was one of the most powerful statements of them all.
When Addy debuted in 1993, there were already four American Girl dolls on the scene. All were white and represented various periods between the Revolutionary War and post-WWII. Pleasant Company spent $3 million developing Addy, an enslaved African American girl, as the first Black doll. There was initially a ton of backlash around her introduction.
Meet Tom Francis, the Bloodstained Beefcake of Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard
Tom Francis is several months into his Broadway debut in Jamie Lloyd’s hypermodern, retina-burning revival of the classic Sunset Boulevard, but he has already assembled a long list of shows he’d like to tackle next. Among them, he told Jeremy O. Harris earlier this month, is Dogfight, Company, Merrily We Roll Along and, maybe one day, a revival of Rent, because why not? But first, the 25-year-old, who won the Olivier Award and has now earned a Tony nomination for his seductive, stripped back turn as the striving Joe Gillis, is soaking up the accolades alongside his fellow first-time nominee, co-star Nicole Scherzinger. “I’m realizing how much this job has given me,” Francis said the morning after nominations were announced. Dripping in fake blood, he found a rare moment alone in his dressing room to take it all in. “I got a bit emotional after the show because it was just so loving and amazing last night. The audience was just generous, and it got me a little bit.” Below, he and Harris talk about getting swole, selling sweaty T-shirts (for charity, of course), and the pressures of reviving an iconic production.

Burgundy Is Your French Country Vacation Fantasy Come To Life—And It’s Only a Train Ride Away From Paris
Rachel Howard and her young son discover that there’s much more to this part of central France than just the bottle.
With around 800 miles of rivers and canals, Burgundy has the largest network of inland waterways in France. It’s ideal for boating, and well-maintained towpaths make it excellent for cycling, too. For about four centuries, starting in the mid-1400s, Clamecy was a prosperous center of the timber trade, thanks to its location at the confluence of the Yonne and the Canal du Nivernais. Beech and oak logs felled in the Morvan Forest were fastened together and floated along the Yonne, then up the Seine to fuel the fires of the growing population of Paris.
