These pictures of Josh O’Connor at the Cannes Film Festival photo call and premiere of Mastermind are very stale at this point, thanks to our slatternly ways this holiday weekend, but there was no way we weren’t going to feature these looks, even if they are days old. The pictures might not be fresh but the style definitely is.

While it all seems a little heavy for the Riviera, we love this. It plays to his strengths really well by combining very fine menswear with a sense of whimsy and even awkwardness that works very well for him. We’re not sure we can think of many other men who could make this combination of items work. We love the oddness of that brown boutonniere next to that bright floral. The only part we don’t love here is the shoe choice.

All of the things we like to see: a fine fit, interesting colors, no pants puddle and a substantial pair of shoes. We might have liked a 1/3 inch more on the hem, but that’s the only quibble. We really like this play of shades, which feels sophisticated.
