Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden to Star in ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Miniseries at Netflix
Olivia Colman will also have a key role in the adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel.
The streamer has greenlit a six-episode limited series based on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden and Olivia Colman are set to play lead roles in the series, which comes from writer Dolly Alderton (the BBC’s Everything I Know About Love) and director Euros Lyn (Heartstopper). BBC Studios’ Lookout Point is producing the series, which is set to begin filming later this year in the U.K.
Corrin (The Crown, Nosferatu) will play Elizabeth Bennet, the intelligent and unconventional second daughter of the Bennet family. Lowden (Slow Horses) plays Mr. Darcy, the wealthy, gruff member of the gentry whose romance with Elizabeth fuels the story. Oscar and Emmy winner Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) plays Mrs. Bennet, Elizabeth’s mother.
Diego Luna Is Ready for the Revolution
The Andor star on Jedi knights, living life without a plan, and why he’s glad his Star Wars spin-off will end after two seasons: “I didn’t see myself playing Cassian at 80 years old, almost in a wheelchair, going back to the same story over and over again.”
Diego Luna is one of Mexico’s most internationally known actors, as well as one of the most popular stars in his own country. After his early years acting in Mexican soap operas, he went on to steal the spotlight with his performance in Y Tu Mamá También (2001), which also served to raise the profile of director Alfonso Cuarón. From there, Luna has traveled a multifaceted path, working with indie royalty such as Gus Van Sant and Harmony Korine, mainstream giants like Steven Spielberg and Kevin Costner, venerable auteurs like Woody Allen and Bill Condon, and a good number of younger figures from the Mexican film world as well. His body of work is a testament to his versatility and maturity.
Luna is also known to be one of the most affable men in a profession that includes many difficult stars. He’s directed short films, television series, videos, documentaries, and feature films. He has also produced more than 40 works, written screenplays, and even sung, without ever letting any of it go to his head.
These are the best wedding shoes you’ll want to walk down the aisle in
Something new, something blue
It would be an understatement to say that weddings take a lot of planning. But while the venue, food, music, and even the dress sit at the top of the long wedding to-do list, your shoes probably don’t seem like a priority. After all, forgetting to invite a close friend will have much greater repercussions than whether you opt for a chic court or a fancy flat. So, allow us to take this task on for you, scouring all the best stores to find the chicest wedding shoes for every budget and style.
One key thing to remember is that wedding shoes aren’t just there to complement the dress, they actually have to be practical too. A sky-high stiletto for a sandy-floor beach wedding probably isn’t going to end well, nor will a fancy flat if your dress is four inches too long. So it seriously pays to consider your surroundings before committing to a pair that just looks pretty. Plus, you most likely need to walk and dance in them all day, so let’s account for comfort, too.
In a transitional wardrobe rut? These are the best spring dresses to add to your collection for every occasion
With these in your arsenal, you’re set for the months ahead
Judging by the recent spate of sunny weather, spring has officially arrived. Although most of us are welcoming higher temperatures with open arms, the scramble to transition from a fur-stuffed winter wardrobe to light and airy separates can be slightly overwhelming. But with a range of the best spring dresses in your arsenal, getting dressed for the next few months will be literally, and figuratively, a breeze.
This year’s spring/summer trends are overwhelmingly dopamine-inducing, feminine and maximalist, which I believe all good dresses should be. Full skirts, powder pink palettes and asymmetric cuts are set to define the season, but there’s no going wrong with classic A-line silhouettes and light linen fabrications to bolster your everyday spring/summer outfits.
Rotational exercises are an often-forgotten workout move powerhouse – 7 that build core stability and reduce injury
Easy, effective and essential? We’re all in.
Want to move like an athlete? Then you’re going to need to include rotational exercises in your fitness arsenal. Often overlooked, rotational exercises go against much of what we usually focus on in strength training. Rather than stabilising to avoid rotation (think about when you’re doing bird dogs, for example – you’ll be engaging your core to prevent your hips rotating), these moves focus specifically on the twisting motions that power many of our functional movements, from throwing a ball and to fastening a car seat belt to getting up out of bed in the morning.
33 best festival outfit ideas and inspo you need this summer
If you can’t go big at a festival, when can you?
Coachella marks the the beginning of festival season globally, and it starts tomorrow, so the best festival outfits search is officially ON.
Before us Brits know it, it’ll be time for Isle of Wight, Reading & Leeds, Download, Creamfields and Glastonbury (which starts on the 25th June, FYI). So, if you’re frantically Googling what to wear to a festival, we’ve got you. It’s time to dust off our summer dresses, crochet trousers and crop tops and get into the spirit.
The 7-point rule just made getting dressed a whole lot easier
Your wardrobe just got more interesting.
All of us here have experienced it at one time or another: “I like my outfit, but something is missing”. You don’t know what it is, but you know that it takes an extra touch to make your outfit feel complete. And yes, we often reach for a change of bag, add a few accessories or resort to that long list of styling tricks we’ve read about. The wrong shoe theory, the touch of red, the ⅔ rule…there are endless tips that are meant to help us feel put-together, and TikTok has introduced just us to one more: the 7-point rule.
The 35 Best Wedding Guest Dresses You’ll Want To Wear Again And Again
Forget the one-wear purchase, this season’s most stylish wedding guests are choosing dresses that they’ll turn to time and time again.
For 2025 wedding guests, the only rule that need apply is the avoidance of white, cream or ivory. Other than that go gung ho in planning a look that speaks to your personal style and the celebrations set to ensue. Yet, for all this talk of ‘no rules’, the classics still endure. You can’t beat a sweet floral dress (ideally by Erdem) worn to an English countryside wedding, and the same goes for a satin Vivienne Westwood gown for a black tie affair in a glitzy ballroom. It’s worth bearing in mind too that while you might want to make a great impression and show up sartorially for the happy couple, a level of restraint is needed. It’s not your day, it’s theirs so remember this when thinking about things like proportion, colour and accessories.
The Portrait’s Progress
How Ingres’s masterpiece Comtesse d’Haussonville took center stage in the Frick Collection’s newly unveiled galleries.
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres’s 1845 portrait of Louise de Broglie, Comtesse d’Haussonville, has always been a crowd favorite at the Frick Collection in New York City, but now, after the museum’s four-year renovation, it will hang in the gloriously restored (and newly opened to the public) second-floor galleries. The painting has had an unusual journey, acquired eight years after Henry Clay Frick, the robber baron/art collector who lived here, died in 1919. Here’s how it ended up in what was once his bedroom.
Fragrance Layering Is Cool and All—But an Olfactory Personality Is So Much Chicer
With this scent trail, the compliments never stop coming.
Designing an olfactory personality, a term coined by Guerlain perfumer Delphine Jelk, is a long-overdue perfume application technique that’s just gaining momentum in insider circles. Think of it like the more sophisticated, chicer, and more elegant older sister to fragrance layering. It’s an evolution of the perfume cocktailing experience, treating scent like a complete outfit instead of one, singular statement piece. The principle: spritz multiple perfumes on different areas of the body (and your clothing). “This personalized scent trail is created by combining fragrance, applying one to pulse points, another to your hair, and an all-over scent—perhaps something behind the knees as well,” explains Jelk. This creates an aura around you that is your own bespoke signature.
Welcome to the Hairbrush Renaissance
Brushes have been a staple of human grooming for thousands of years. The contemporary kind, in the style of a paddle, handle, and bristles, found its footing, like so many categories of beauty, in France. “All the royal courts were very fond [of] beauty and fragrance, but also about brushing tools and combs,” says Pauline Laurent, one of the cofounders of hairbrush company La Bonne Brosse. “You had very lovely objects in silver and ivory, that were like a collection.”
Never mind the cheap drugstore options you have stashed in a drawer. The latest wave of beautifully crafted brushes are a return to a bygone era of beauty.
But then came the 20th century and the arrival of plastics like ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which allowed the tool to become mass produced, effectively erasing many of the handcrafted techniques and traditional materials that made the item feel so special.

So what gives? And more importantly, is it actually as healthy as people claim? Two experts weigh in on the health benefits of cottage cheese.

The Top 10 International Cities for Food and Drink, According to the Experts
Across continents, cuisines, and endless influences, these are the most remarkable cities to taste this year.
When you’re traveling to a city, whether for business or pleasure, one of the easiest ways to immerse yourself in the local culture is to embrace the food and drink scene. It usually doesn’t require too much effort, since you’re going to have a meal or go out for a drink anyway.
Food is often representative of a city’s soul. It’s not just something to fuel our bodies, it’s family, community, agriculture, business. It symbolizes the interconnectedness of humanity, and each destination has a distinct food identity. We’ve tapped Food & Wine’s network of food and travel experts to nominate their go-to cities for international culinary experiences. These winners are where to travel this year.
There’s Always Spit on the Birthday Cake and Other Things You Need to Know About Sharing Food
From birthday cake to charcuterie plates, a chef and a public health official explore strategies for (politely!) staying safe when you’re eating at potlucks, buffets, and parties.
As a chef who oversaw and prepared my staff for countless health inspections, I’m often unable to compartmentalize. Food trucks set up at temporary special events in Philadelphia are required to be inspected at every single permitted event, in contrast with the one — yes, one — time each year brick-and-mortar restaurants require inspection. This meant that I oversaw inspections up to five times a week. We did a lot of events.
When I dine out or go over to someone’s house for dinner, I feel like I see everything, every potential health code violation, but I can only begin to imagine the hyper violation vision Herndon must have. I sat him down and gave him a multitude of scenarios to navigate out of. You can decide for yourself how willing you are to take his advice in the name of food safety, and the degree of grace (and dishonesty) you choose to wield in each situation.
At 50 Years, This Is The Oldest Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Ever Released
It’s also one of the most expensive.
The sixth and final chapter of the Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Collection is finally hitting (select) shelves. With a 50-year age statement and $60,000 price tag, it’s the oldest single pot still Irish whiskey ever released. And after spending five decades aging in wood, it’s possibly the oldest — and among the most expensive — Irish whiskey ever put up for sale.
The Silent Distillery Collection pays homage to the Old Midleton Distillery, which operated between 1825 and 1975. Today, the modern Midleton facility is the distillery behemoth that crafts Irish whiskey brands, including Jameson, Powers, Redbreast, Greenspot, and Midleton Very Rare.
The Rage of ‘Adolescence’: Inside the Single-Shot Sensation Blowing Up the Manosphere
In their first group interview, THR cover stars Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Ashley Walters and Erin Doherty open up about Netflix’s most popular U.K. title of all time: “This is an examination of male rage.”
Adolescence examines, in almost excruciating detail, a parent’s worst nightmare. It becomes clear that Jamie’s time on the internet has shaped a radicalized, rageful teenager. He is seduced by the online “manosphere,” where misogynists prey on the insecurities of young men and boys to popularize their hostile inclinations toward women. The world of incels — a portmanteau of “involuntarily” and “celibate,” often used to define men who are frustrated by their lack of sexual experience and blame women for it — has become something of a safe haven for a child who is bullied by the girls at school. Jamie tells Doherty’s psychologist that he considers his victim lucky she wasn’t sexually assaulted. “Most boys would’ve touched her,” he says. “So that makes me better, don’t you think?”
All of a sudden, Graham and co-writer Jack Thorne pose a question all parents would be horrified to have to answer: What if your child’s burgeoning worldview is manipulated by online creators you can’t police, turning an otherwise ordinary youngster into one capable of carrying out a heinous act of violence?

The chronicler of modern romance, a Slow Horses star, and a reunion for fans of The Crown: there’s plenty to love in this upcoming Pride and Prejudice adaptation, most ardently
There is no enjoyment like reading? Not so fast, Miss Austen. In this, the 250th anniversary of the author’s birth, Dolly Alderton has announced that she is writing a Netflix series adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice. Rumours regarding the cast have been circulating faster than a marriage plot at a regency masquerade ball, but now our leads have been revealed. Emma Corrin, star of The Crown and Nosferatu, will play Elizabeth Benett, while Slow Horses alumnus Jack Lowden will step into the high-throated pumps of Mr Darcy. Joining them as Mrs Benett? None other than Oscar-winner Olivia Colman.
Alderton, who has become a chronicler of modern-day romance in her own right with her books Everything I Know About Love, Ghosts, and Good Material, told Netflix how excited she was to create a ‘familiar and fresh’ take on the novel alongside Heartstopper director, Euros Lyn.
