It’s THURSDAY and perhaps that means we should all stay in our bubbles for the duration. It certainly beats the alternative: leaving them and entering reality. Come be delusional with us all day today. Distractions below.

Scarlett Johansson reveals why she doesn’t take photos with fans: ‘It really offends a lot of people’
“I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing.”

Word to the wise: Do not ask Scarlett Johansson to take a selfie during her free time.
The Avengers alum recently discussed why she has a long-standing policy of not taking photographs with fans if she’s not attending a professional event.
“It really offends a lot of people,” Johansson told InStyle in a new interview. “It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me. But I always say to people, ‘I’m not working.’ [And that means] I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing.”

Here’s How You Convince Amanda Seyfried to Leave The Farm
The ‘Long Bright River’ actress and producer says she’s done with boredom (and her own insecurities), so stop offering her the same roles she’s played over and over… unless it’s ‘Mamma Mia 3’: “Show me the money!”

These days, there’s plenty to keep Seyfried engaged. Her latest miniseries, Peacock’s true-crime drama Long Bright River, drops March 13; then there’s the planned Venice premiere for Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist follow-up, a 1700s-set musical about Shakers founder Ann Lee, in which she stars. And she’s already got a burgeoning scheme for her December birthday. “I’m turning 40, and I want to get drunk and go to Target with my friends,” she says. “I want to get properly brunched and walk around Target for as long as I fucking want.”

Natalie Portman will star in Lena Dunham’s new film Good Sex, about a 40-year-old woman’s fling with a younger hipster
Jenna Ortega and Charli XCX will also star.

Natalie Portman has been confirmed to star in Girls creator Lena Dunham’s Netflix movie Good Sex, which sees a 40-year-old couples therapist navigate the New York dating scene, finding herself in a sexy tryst with a young Brookyn hipster, as well as a more conventionally-minded man from Manhattan. We love a love triangle.
The latest announcement comes as we eagerly await Lena’s upcoming TV series Too Much, which also follows a New York woman’s dating exploits when she moves to London after a break up.

Bad Sisters star Sharon Horgan’s new series will follow a 50-year-old woman’s search for sex and love
We cannot wait.

Bad Sisters actor, producer and writer Sharon Horgan is set to blow our minds once more with a new TV series, as part of a deal recently signed between her production company Merman and US TV network HBO.
The first series to come from the deal, it will follow a “50-year-old divorcée’s search for sex and love whilst juggling caring for her ailing parents and parenting her should-be grown up son.” To add to the plot, her character will also be trying to care for her ailing parents, as well as her son who is – shall we say – challenging in terms of his maturity.

The Girls Spot, a women-only gym, faces backlash after withdrawing trans inclusivity
A women-only gym is at the centre of a controversy after making a U-turn on its trans inclusive policy.

Back in 2021, Natalee Barnett, founder of the women’s only gym, The Girls Spot, announced that her gym would always welcome trans women. However, this year, as the gym opens its doors after four years of fundraising, Barnett has backtracked on her inclusivity policy — and is facing huge backlash online as a result.
Initially, Barnett’s statements were firm — The Girls Spot was designed to include all women, including trans women. “Respectfully, if you have a problem with trans women attending my gym then you can find another gym to train at,” she wrote on Twitter, now X. “I have discussed this several times before. Trans women are women and also a minority that need to be protected. Please keep your transphobia away.”

I can guarantee you’ll find this perfume in every beauty editor’s collection—here’s why it should be in yours
Plus, my favourite new iterations of the clever classic

I remember when I first tried Escentric Molecules 01—it was like nothing I had ever smelt before. Unique, fresh and a little different on everyone, this was the perfume that kicked off the era of ‘skin scents’. Molecule 01 is still one of my top five perfumes and is in constant rotation on my fragrance shelf. Here’s why I think it’ll always be one of the true greats in modern olfactory experiences.

Nail Concealer Is the Sheer and Strengthening Cousin of Traditional Polish
Think of it as the key to a “no-makeup makeup” look—but for your nails.
There is no shortage of ways to express yourself through your nail aesthetic. Maybe you style your fingertips in accordance with the zodiac calendar, with holiday-inspired designs, or by following seasonal trends. Or maybe, when it comes to elaborate nails, the concept of JOMO (that is, the “joy of missing out”) resonates most with you. If you’re someone who likes a pared-down nail look that doesn’t require much by way of upkeep but still likes to look polished, nail concealer might be exactly what you need.
While it may appear the same as a traditional polish in the bottle, nail concealer is a little different. The ever-sheer concealer aims to make your nails look flawless, but not in the same way as a full-blown, intentional manicure does. “It’s just like a facial foundation or concealer, but for your nails,” says manicurist Mazz Hanna. “Nail concealer is perfect for those who are looking for a healthy, polished look with minimal effort.”

How to Wear Sneakers With Jeans, No Matter Where You’re Going
Sneakers and denim are always a power duo. Here are our favorite outfit combos.

These days, every street-style star knows how to wear sneakers with jeans in the coolest way possible. But there was once a time when the outfit combo meant only one thing: You were someone’s dad. Channeling Hot Dad Energy, normcore, and other fashion-forward aesthetics weren’t a thing. You were just…someone’s dad. The kind of guy who relied on pairing his chunky jogging shoes with aggressively medium-wash blue jeans.

45 Movies Based on Books That Are Actually Worth Watching
Or, a cheat code for your next book club.

There are a lot of movies based on books. There are very few good movies based on books.
It’s no secret Hollywood likes to get its ideas elsewhere, and the book-to-movie pipeline has always been robust. With that said, while a select few movies elevate their source material, plenty just don’t live up to the hype, failing to capture what made the book engaging or else being so dutiful you feel like you’re reading, not watching. There are, though, a good amount of movies that make a case for their own existence, using most but not all of a book to create something that stands on its own.
Some, like the 2019 movie adaptation of Little Women, play with the story or add in new scenes to appeal to a modern audience. Others benefit from multimedia: Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, for example, comes with an engaging soundtrack that elevates the romance onscreen.

The 17 Best Rose Perfumes Aren’t Your Grandmother’s Stuffy Fragrance
The classic note is more in demand than ever, and for good reason.

Ah, rose perfumes. They sometimes get a bad rap thanks to headache-inducing cheap body sprays and the old-school vibes that accompany them. But today’s best rose fragrances are anything but outdated. With modern twists and intriguing note pairings (think leather, incense, and lychee), they can appeal to any fragrance fan’s scent aesthetic.

This Former Thom Browne Designer Spent Over 200 Hours Creating a Veil for Her Wedding
Designer Victoria Richard’s love for bridal gowns was sparked at a young age. “Growing up with a sister with special needs, you very innately try to figure out how to connect—and for us, it was through bridal design and magazines. It was how we played,” shares Victoria. “We still design wedding dresses almost every time I see her.” While Victoria went on to become a professional ballerina—training as a student at the American Ballet Theater and Boston Ballet summer intensive programs—she found her way back to fashion when she received an internship at Ralph Lauren. After developing her skills further at Parsons School of Design, she embarked on a career as a designer at brands including Ralph Lauren, Marchesa, and Thom Browne. “I think what drives me and brings me joy is dressing people for life’s special moments,” she says.

The 3 Cheeses That a Professional Cheesemonger Always Keeps in Her Fridge
With the right array of cheeses, you’ll be prepared for (almost) any scenario.

I have a theory I’ve been keeping secret: if you have cheese in your fridge, you’re already one-third of the way to dinner.
Cheese plus two other items consistently equals a complete meal. Add noodles and peas (or your frozen green vegetable of choice) for a quick pasta dish. Pair bread with a can of soup to create a grilled cheese and a bowl of soup. A generous serving of cheese, apples, and crackers can qualify as a snack dinner in my book.
And perhaps most importantly, if you have good cheese in your fridge, you can entertain at a moment’s notice. I assure you that if you serve quality cheese to your guests, they’ll completely forget that you forgot to chill that bottle of wine.

Rusty Nail
This two-ingredient combination of scotch and Drambuie, a favorite of Frank Sinatra, is ready for a cocktail comeback.

The Rusty Nail cocktail combines Scotch whisky with Drambuie, a honey-sweetened herbal liqueur made with a base of blended scotch.
Though the cocktail’s origins are vague, drinks historian David Wondrich has traced the first mention of a drink that combined scotch and Drambuie to the British Industries Fair in Birmingham, England in 1937. It remained fairly obscure through the 1940s and ’50s, going through various names and iterations. It would take a few more decades to firmly land on cocktail menus with an equal parts build and a provocative name that stuck.

Step inside the new Johnnie Walker Vault: the £50k private Scotch experience like no other
Tatler was amongst the first to be invited to a private blending experience with Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender

It’s the most widely consumed whisky in the world – and now its fans are in for something altogether more luxurious, a bespoke bottle of your very own Johnnie Walker Scotch – with a hefty price tag.
At a time when luxury brands are increasingly offering bespoke experiences because, let’s face it, exclusivity and individuality have become the new markers of status, Diageo has launched The Johnnie Walker Vault, a new platform grounded in blending artistry, including a hallmark of high living offering a handful of whisky connoisseurs a completely made-to-measure whisky experience.

Want to be Alone With a Rembrandt and a Queen? Here’s Your Chance.
A new exhibition at the Jewish Museum explores the cult of Queen Esther, whose story won the hearts of Dutch Masters and some artists today.

You might not instinctively pair Queen Esther with Rembrandt van Rijn, the Dutch master who invented realism in the 17th century. Yet “The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt,” a delectably wonky show at the Jewish Museum in Manhattan, explores a little-known chapter in art history when artists of the Dutch Golden Age made a cult of Esther’s exemplary story. Though timed to coincide with Purim, the Jewish holiday that celebrates Esther and begins at sundown on Thursday, the show is likely to appeal to anyone who cares about painting. Rembrandt is represented by three paintings and a half dozen etchings, and the show also includes memorable works by his pupil Aert de Gelder and the two Jans (Steen and Lievens). It argues that the Dutch people found in the story of Esther a potent symbol of their own plight at a time when they were struggling for independence from the Spanish monarchy.

No American Drama Is as Haunted by Ghosts of Actors Past as ‘Streetcar’
With a revival starring Paul Mescal and Patsy Ferran in Brooklyn, a look at the carefully weighted balance that actors playing Blanche and Stanley need to strike.

Brando may have once felt he was trapped in the brooding shadow of Garfield. But that was nothing compared to the shadow Brando’s performance — captured for eternity in the 1951 film adaptation of “Streetcar,” which, like the play, was directed by Elia Kazan — would cast over every actor who dared to portray Stanley Kowalski in the years to come.
The latest of this courageous breed is Paul Mescal, who has donned Stanley’s historic T-shirt for the director Rebecca Frecknall’s London-born production of “Streetcar,” which runs through April 6 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Claire Tabouret Designed the New Stained-Glass Windows at Notre-Dame. She’s Ready for the Blowback.
Halfway through my conversation with the French artist Claire Tabouret, we arrived at everyone’s favorite subject: psychoanalysis. Twice a week for seven years, the painter would visit her shrink’s book-filled Parisian office and recline on the sofa. “He would smoke,” Tabouret reminisced from her brightly lit LA studio last month. “And I would cry.”
Tabouret illuminates her emotional turmoil in Moonlight Shadow, an enigmatic new show currently on view at LA’s Night Gallery. The dreamy paintings feature many uncanny self-portraits, breastfeeding mothers, and eerie choruses of costumed children all washed in a smokey, blue-ish light. But the 42-year-old’s work extends far beyond the couch. Despite an uproar from preservationists, the French government recently commissioned Tabouret to restore the Notre-Dame Cathedral’s famed stained glass windows. “It’s not very French to move things around,” Tabouret says. “But also, I feel strong enough to go back and bring change.” Earlier this month, Tabouret and I discussed Parisian squats, LA’s devastating wildfires, and using art to seduce your friends.

Think elaborate heritage-printed textiles, mix-matching vintage furniture, and leaning into saturated spaces. Hanging plates on walls falls right in line with all the above, and it’s the perfect way to showcase thrifted treasures or family heirlooms.

10 Things You Should Never Do When Washing the Dishes
Whether you’re hand-washing or dishwashing, these mistakes will affect the cleanliness of your kitchenware.

While it’s hardly a fan-favorite chore, taking care when washing your dishes is essential to ensure they get the deepest clean possible. Giving kitchenware a quick rinse and calling it a day can leave behind unwanted odors, bacteria, and food residue that makes the items unsanitary to use. Of course, everyone wants to believe their dishes are getting a thorough cleaning, but there are a few dishwashing mistakes many people make when completing this household task. Whether you’re hand-washing or using a dishwasher, be sure to avoid what experts say are the most common dishwashing pitfalls.
