What with all of the Oscars red carpetry to discuss, we’ve fallen a little behind on bullying Millie Bobby Brown. The star of The Electric State took to her social media this week to call out a bunch of folks who’ve been saying mean things about her online. We were a little disappointed we weren’t included among them.
AT THE MADRID PHOTO CALL IN DOLCE & GABBANA
For the terminally pedantic, the previous paragraph was a joke. While we have no problem mentioning that she tends to dress too old for her age (and have done so continuously for going on a decade now), she’s absolutely right to call out the people who’ve made their critiques about her looks. We never felt that she dressed too provocatively; just that, for whatever reasons, her taste from the time she’s been a tween has skewed toward styles more appropriate for women several to many decades older than her. Now that she’s 21, married, and taking on adult roles, it would make sense for her to continue to dress a little mature than the average girl her age. Ironically, this is probably the most youthful thing she’s worn in a good long while. She’s been a bit demure about the contention that she’s trying to get cast in a Britney Spears biopic, but outfits like this one make it seem pretty definite. The hair situation is very weird.
AT THE LONDON FAN SCREENING IN WIEDERHOEFT
See? THIS. This is the sort of thing we’re talking about. There’s no scandal here, and she certainly doesn’t look bad, but this whole look feels more appropriate for someone twice her age. It also feels quite overblown for a Netflix action movie premiere.
