We’ve spent the last day and a half handing out spotlight posts to several of the attendees of the Film Independent Spirit Awards, but if we don’t start rounding them up for mass judgment, they may never find out what we think of their outfits and that would be a terrible tragedy.
Aidy Bryant in Naya Rea
Of all the “six-year-old’s birthday party” dresses she’s worn lately, this one is the best, although it’s still way too juvenile.
Amy Adams in Carolina Herrera
We like that she’s shaking her style up a little, but we’ve never seen a pantsuit that so clearly wanted to be a gown.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor
Love the suit. The ombre effect on the coat is gorgeous, but we don’t think it goes well with the suit.
Brandon Wilson
The sweater’s cute, but that coat is awful.
Cristin Milioti in Danielle Frankel
We hate that style of skirt but she does look pretty amazing in this. Could’ve used a little more in the way of gold accents.
Edgar Ramirez
Always completely forgettable.
Ethan Herisse in Prada
It’s a beautiful color and the fit is pretty great. We don’t mind these belted-jacket suits, but that looks like a luggage strap.
Hunter Schafer in Prada
“Dustbowl Depression wife with cha cha heels” is certainly a choice. A dumb choice, but a choice nonetheless. Seriously, girl. That dress is hideous.
Jay Ellis
No complaints.
Jessica Gunning
It’s elegant and she appears comfortable in it, but the color is dreary and she is in desperate need of some jewelry.
Joe Locke
Love the jacket, hate the pants. We think with a jacket like that, you need a pair of pants with an interesting silhouette; either very skinny or very baggy. We lean toward the latter.
Justice Smith in Valentino
It’s a fantastic suit, but that textile is kind of ugly. The shoes don’t appeal; not because they’re femme, but because those bows would look silly on any wearer.
Kathryn Hahn in Rochas
This is pretty great, although the top is over-wrinkled and the skirt looks a little flimsy.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste
Perfect. Love the cocktail ring.
Moeka Hoshi in Balmain
This dress is trying to do way too much.
Natasha Lyonne in Rochas
It’s a goofy-quirky sort of look, which should be perfect for her, but that orange is too close to her hair color.
Sonequa Martin-Green in Khoon Hooi
Bleh. Way too conservative and “church clothes” in tone. This style doesn’t suit her at all.
Walton Goggins
He is one of the few men who can work a sleeveless cowl neck and the Film Independent Spirit Awards is one of the few places where it looks appropriate.
