The lady stars came to Paris to sit in the front row at the Chanel Haute Couture show and in return, the house gave them all ugly outfits to wear. We believe in being upfront about our opinions.

There’s entirely too much going on here, but we’ll settle on that ridiculous hair bow as the thing that absolutely must go above all others. The cape is heavy and blankety, which makes it seem like an odd choice to pair with a relatively short skirt.

That trim looks awfully craftsy and the whole thing has too much of an ecclesiastic vibe to it. We don’t think it does much for her, but at least it’s not a disaster like some of these other looks.

On the one hand, we always felt that any attempt to make the classic Chanel tweed suit look sexy was a mistake, largely because every attempt just winds up sizing everything down to baby clothes. On the other hand…

… we can understand why designers constantly try to sex up the brand because the classic look is mumsy as hell. To be fair, Coco would never have approved those ruffles.

When Chanel can’t even do right by Marion Cotillard, something’s wrong.

Who looks at Pamela Anderson and says “What she really needs is to dress up like the ghost of Loretta Lynn”? What is going on over at Chanel right now?

Awful. That jacket is ugly and the whole look is deeply unflattering to her.

This is kind of fun. We wonder if most of the above looks would have been improved by a pair of plain black jeans. That, to us, is probably the only way you can take some of the staleness off the classic Chanel tweeds.
