Where was The Diplomat season 2 filmed? Beautiful filming locations revealed
We are obsessed with chapter 2 of the Netflix political thriller series.
Netflix’s political thriller TV series is back for season 2, and we’re loving it. It follows the story Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) the US ambassador to the UK, as she navigates various international crises, along with her failing marriage to fellow diplomat Hal Wyler (Scoop’s Rufus Sewell).
Regardless of whether you’ve watched or not, you need to know about The Diplomat filming locations from season 2, as they’ve managed to nab some of the most beautiful spots in the UK.
WW2 movie Blitz perfectly honours the importance of women’s wartime activism
Director Steve McQueen said himself, “half the war effort was women”, and he wanted to do that truth justice.
The film sees Saoirse play a mother for the first time, a poignant connection created between herself and on-screen son Elliot Heffernan, particularly as he is a similar age to the age she was when she started out in the entertainment industry. There’s a protectiveness and empathy between them that seems to transcend the wartime story their mother-and-son plotline takes place in.
But Blitz is much more than a story of mother and son – it is also one that champions the activism and empowerment women found during wartime. Much like Kate Winslet’s Lee biopic – which explored the incredible life story of model-turned-WW2-photographer Lee Miller, it honours the crucial role women took in keeping the country going while the majority of men went off to fight in the war, and the battles they fought back home for better conditions and treatment.
Stuck for autumnal French manicure inspiration? This simple look is all I want to wear right now
The simple switch up everyone is making right now
As a beauty editor and nail tech, I’m constantly saving the best nail trends I see on Instagram and TikTok. But for autumn trends, there’s one manicure I’m seeing over and over: the burgundy French manicure.
Despite ‘just’ being a classic manicure trend in a different colour, it’s one of the best autumn nail trends I’ve seen by a long way. There are also quite a few ways to try it. You can alter it using nail shapes, from a classic square tip to an almond. You can also play around with the thickness of your burgundy tip, trying a more classic, thick French tip to a micro French tip. Finally, you can switch up your base colour, opting for a standard clear base coat or even going for a chrome finish. It’s a minimal nail look that is also somewhat playful.
See? I told you there were quite a few ways to try it. Read on for all the tools and inspiartion you need to give it a go at home.
I’ve done all the research – these are the 5 denim trends everyone will be wearing this season (myself included)
Spoiler alert: skinny jeans are back
We take denim very seriously here at Marie Claire UK. By regularly testing the best pairs of denim to round up failsafe options to invest in for many seasons to come—we are keen purveyors of the humble capsule wardrobe piece.
Of course, we understand that when it comes to the best jeans, the options are endless. This is especially true when investing in key pieces for the colder months ahead now that November is here and December is just a couple of blinks away. So, if you’re looking to invest in key denim staples to make everyday denim styling easier, we got you covered.
This season, denim was seen everywhere on the runway in various iterations, from styles that had been going strong before autumn/winter to the reintroduction of other polarising styles that are slowly but surely making a comeback (skinny jeans, we’re looking at you).
9 winter makeup trends that are taking off
From cold-girl frosted eyeshadow to satin skin.
We’re edging into a new season, so it’s time to assess the winter makeup trends we need on our agenda. It’s never too early to get a jumpstart and begin thinking about our next makeup era(s), and from what we can see, it’s a tale of two halves.
Low-key accents and satin skin will take some of us (less is more in certain situations), while flashy makeup is also having a moment (metallic and frosted shadows, in particular, are taking off). And, of course, there’s nothing stopping us from leaning into both. These are the winter makeup trends you need to know for 2024…
9 foods you think are high in protein, but actually aren’t
Consider them helpful sidekicks to reach your daily goal.
We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but some of those foods you think are high in protein actually aren’t. Or at least not very much of it. If you’re trying to add more protein to your diet — whether to help your muscles recover after a workout or simply to stop your stomach from growling hours before lunch — there’s no shortage of little ways to help get there. But if you’re hoping for a single ingredient to do most of the heavy lifting, you might want to look at your options a little more carefully.
That’s because a bunch of foods that are commonly touted as high in protein actually aren’t the best sources of that important macro — meaning that although they do have some, it’s usually not enough to get you to the recommended 15 grams or so of protein per meal without anything else.
Why Single Women Are Embracing ‘Roster’ Dating
Have you started building your festive roster yet? Ideally, you’ll want to have about three people circulating, four if you’ve got the time. One might be great for Friday nights: some overpriced cocktails here, a spontaneous quickie there. Another suits for Sundays, when one of you pores over what takeout to order while the other tackles Netflix. And, if you time it right, the other is your perfect plus-one, primed to tackle nosy family members at Christmas gatherings, one pre-approved dad joke at a time.
In today’s dating scene, the roster is no longer just an eccentricity practiced by the particularly horny and well-organized. It’s a survival mechanism, one that has become integral in the run-up to silly season, when everyone who’s single is more than ready to jingle.

Here’s What Nutritionists Really Think of the Protein Coffee Trend
It all boils down to one thing: Listen to your body.
Not every tip you see on the internet will be a winner.
There are a ton of “hacks” and “advice” on apps like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook that, quite simply, wouldn’t pass a sniff test, let alone a fact check. However, there is one trend that people love on social media, which nutritionists actually like: Proffee.
For the uninitiated and those who aren’t chronically online, “proffee” is the trend of adding protein powder or a little protein shake to your morning coffee. And it turns out, it really can be advantageous — as long as you do it right.

This Limited-Edition Pie From Whole Foods Is the Best Store-Bought Pie I’ve Ever Tried
The catch: It’s only available in certain locations.
As I’ve written before, I love making my own pie for the holidays. But I might just make an exception this year for Whole Foods’ new creation, boldly called “The Pie.”
The hand-crimped all-butter crust features three layers: a cranberry compote, a spiced brown butter almond frangipane, and shingled heirloom apple slices that are brushed with an apricot glaze. The filling is familiar yet undeniably distinct, and the cranberries provide a tangy burst to contrast with the rich, buttery frangipane and caramelized apples. But I was most impressed by the crust. Store-bought pie crust tends to be dense and flavorless, but this one was as buttery and flaky as any you’d find at a pastry shop or make yourself.
Reese’s Is Launching a ‘Deconstructed’ Peanut Butter Cup Kit — and It Comes With 10 Ounces of Peanut Butter Filling
It just may be Hershey’s most genius innovation yet.
In 2018, Reddit user alexbchillin took to the “mildly interesting” subreddit to share a truly horrifying image: A Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that came with absolutely no peanut butter whatsoever inside. It instantly sent a chill down the spine of candy lovers everywhere. Thankfully, the brand quickly rectified this disaster by sending him a massive supply of (actually) peanut butter-filled treats and a handwritten note stating it was delivering “enough chocolate AND peanut butter to make everything cool between us.”
And now, all these years later, Reese’s is at it again — this time bringing us all the chance to fill our own cups with as much PB as we want.
Why do divorced guys dress like that?
The aggressively, brutally companionless divorced guy aesthetic.
To be clear, it’s not that all divorced men wear a certain set of clothes; it’s that some newly single straight guys dress and accessorize in a way that eroticizes a violently loveless persona. Usually it involves leather, a lot of black, and a snug fit. Just as important are the add-ons: aviators, a bracelet or other jewelry like an expensive watch, cigars and a fancy lighter, and less appreciated trimmings like guns and cryptocurrency. It’s as though these men may be asked to shoot something and then light it on fire, all in a designer T-shirt.
So what if Martha Stewart is a perfectionist control freak?
In the new Netflix documentary “Martha,” her relentless drive becomes her most endearing characteristic.
Martha Stewart does not admit to ever having her life ruined. Martha Stewart disdains self-pity. Martha Stewart refuses to be a victim.
“Some people revel in this self-pity, etc., etc.,” Stewart remarks to the camera, when asked to reminisce about her divorce from the husband she describes as “a piece of shit” for having cheated. (Her own affairs, she explains to the camera in a now-viral clip, don’t count because her husband didn’t know about them.) She herself is different, she continues: “I just don’t.” She wouldn’t know how to wallow.

36 Hours in Lyon, France
Paris might have seized the global spotlight this year as the host of Summer Olympics, but France’s third-largest city (an easy two-hour train trip from the capital) is hosting some big events of its own, notably the Lyon Biennale (until Jan. 5) and the 25th anniversary of the city’s famous Festival of Lights (Dec. 5 to 8). Arriving in Lyon — an elegant gray-stone metropolis picturesquely threaded by the Rhône and Saône Rivers — you’ll find a recently modernized rail station, a freshly minted entertainment and sports arena, and the newly reopened Musée Lumière, which highlights Lyon’s role as the birthplace of cinema. And bring an appetite for food and shopping. Lyon is famous for its bouchons — homey, old-world restaurants serving hearty local dishes alongside regional Beaujolais wines — and contains a bevy of vintage boutiques as well as one of France’s largest flea markets.
