Aubrey, we love you, but you got Miu Miu’d hard for this one. The star of Megalopolis and Agatha All Along rode a wave of high attention as she hit the red carpet for the Academy Museum Gala (which is exactly the position you want to be in for industry events like these), but her frock choice seriously let her down.
Far be it for us to anoint ourselves the defenders of the purity of sheer gowns, but what the hell is the point of wearing one if you’re just gonna slap two big, honkin’ bows on either side of it? To be clear, we’d still hate the gown without those things. It would be fine in a sheer black, but the nude illusion just makes it look like she’s naked and has some sort of fungal situation happening. Still, that’s almost beside the point when she’s got those randomly placed things on her. What a weird dress – and not remotely in a good way, which is a shame because she’s perfect for the right kind of weird fashion.
