Last week, we made the observation that we never know what kind of style Isabelle Huppert is going to sport at any given moment. It’s not that she’s inconsistent. In fact, we’d say her style is almost always great and she usually sticks to one simple requirement: coverage. Examples? Why, certainly!

In terms of exposure, the only thing she wants you to see are her hands and face. Modesty can be a bit of a double-edged sword in style, simply because it can so easily be mistaken for dowdiness or tinged with fear on the part of the wearer, but an adept stylista knows that you don’t have to sacrifice a bit of dazzle when you stay covered up. Hair, makeup, jewelry all look amazing here. The boots are killer. It’s such a kickass look.

Trust a Frenchwoman to know how to sport a beret. Gaga, take notes. This is cute and has a lot of personality, but we’d have liked it in a richer color to provide some contrast for her.

Even her day looks are dramatic. Love the color and the drape, but that clip is placed at an odd spot.
