In recent weeks, we’ve made our stance clear on two heretofore unrelated issues: the oeuvre of Ryan Murphy and hooded moments on red carpets. In short, we’re pretty much always against the former and almost always for the latter. We say “almost,” because we’re just not entirely sure about this particular moment, served up by Grotesquerie star Niecy Nash at the series premiere:

We probably should have warned you that this isn’t a gown, but we feel like your initial reaction to the pants is going to determine how you voted on this one. They’re too tight. Not necessarily in a fit sense. There’s some pulling in an unfortunate spot, but from a style and proportional perspective, a pair of loose-fitting, wide-legged pants would have simply been much more chic and stylish. We also tend to think the whole thing is too shiny and that we should be able to determine at a glance if she has feet. But that’s just us. You make the final call on this one:

Niecy Nash’s Grimace Drag:

IN or OUT?

ABOUT THE SERIES:
In FX’s GROTESQUERIE, a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. “Detective Lois Tryon” feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of “Sister Megan,” a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.

The series stars Emmy® Award-winner Niecy Nash-Betts as “Detective Lois Tryon,” Emmy Award-winner Courtney B. Vance as “Marshall Tryon,” Emmy Award-nominee Lesley Manville as “Nurse Redd,” Tony® Award-nominee Micaela Diamond as “Sister Megan,” Nicholas Alexander Chavez as “Father Charlie,” Raven Goodwin as “Merritt Tryon” and Travis Kelce.

Written and created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, Grotesquerie is directed by Max Winkler, Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall and Elegance Bratton. The show is executive produced by Murphy, Woodall, Baitz, Baken, Winkler, Nash-Betts, Vance, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun and Scott Robertson. It is produced by 20th Television.
