Pop Pop Keaton did it again. We noted yesterday that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Michael Keaton had dressed in a slightly odd melange of stale trends and professional golf player when he stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night. Going by his follow up appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, we think he’s in the middle of a style evolution; one that we are compelled to support and approve. There’s a reason why we thought he looked odd the other day. It’s because we’re not used to movie stars in his age group dressing like most men in his age group do.
This is “stylish grandpa” and you know what? The man is seventy-two. It’s completely appropriate. We might suggest a few changes here and there, but there’s nothing wrong with sporting classic styles once you’ve reached the stage of becoming a classic yourself. Given that he was at a photocall earlier in the week in jeans and a leather sports coat, we don’t think he’s entirely given up on dressing with a little attitude when it suits him, but if he wants to also work a “wealthy Palm Springs retiree” look, we will do nothing but applaud his efforts. We will also note that we suggested a pair of chinos if he wanted to go this route and we like to think Batman hangs on our every word of advice.
