Moses Ingram and Natalie Portman evidently had the same idea when it came to deciding on a style for the premiere of their limited series Lady in the Lake. To wit:

Groundbreaking florals. We suppose if the title has “lady” in it, there’s a sense that you should be dressing old-school ladylike for the promo tour. They look well coordinated – in the sense that they’re both working the same theme and color story – while also coming off completely distinct from each other.

This is absolutely gorgeous on her. While the textile does tend to look a bit heavy and the shape a bit stiff, the style really suits her and the styling is on point all over. Her makeup is pretty and we like the delicacy of her jewelry choices.

This, on the other hand, has some issues. While Moses’ dress might’ve looked a little like upholstery, this looks like a mumsy table runner. She’s been dressing like a hottie ever since her marriage ended, which is a lady’s right, but something about this design seems to lack the sophistication we’ve come to expect from her. The lining situation is downright terrible.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
When the disappearance of a young girl grips the city of Baltimore on Thanksgiving 1966, the lives of two women converge on a fatal collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram) is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family. Their disparate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger. From visionary director Alma Har’el, “Lady in the Lake” emerges as a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price women pay for their dreams.
