Nobu Bar and Lounge – Marrakech, Morocco
Let’s get cozy today, shall we? It’s WEDNESDAY and we don’t think further explanation is required.
The New Look: Maisie Williams
As the actress graces our screens playing Christian Dior’s heroic sister Catherine in a new TV series, she talks to Justine Picardie – on whose book the character is based – about fashion, family and the triumph of love over fear
She won the role in February 2022 and it was filmed until the end of that year. “It was a long job, and it was amazing; my whole life moved to Paris. It was hard work, but it was such an honour to do this part, and it became all-consuming. This was a role that required an extraordinary amount of research and care – and it really hit me, bringing that wartime period back to the streets of Paris; like I could acknowledge the weight of it in a way that I hadn’t before.”
At 26, Williams is the same age as Catherine Dior when she was arrested and tortured by the Gestapo in July 1944. Catherine had joined the Resistance three years earlier, and risked her life on a daily basis as a key member of a covert network called F2, which gathered intelligence for the Allies.
Let’s take a moment and appreciate Sofia Vergara’s Griselda outfits
And where you can buy them
Obsessed with Sofia Vergara’s Griselda wardrobe? So am I. Much like Michelle Keegan’s Fool Me Once coats, Sofia’s outfits stole the show for me, as excellent as it was.
You might be forgiven for thinking she hopped onto the Mob Wife fashion trend bandwagon, what with all the leopard print and chunky gold jewellery, but you’d be sorely mistaken. Griselda wasn’t a mob wife, she WAS the mob.
For the uninitiated amongst you, Griselda is a fictionalised dramatisation inspired by the real life of Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most powerful cartels in history in the 1970s and 80s. She fled Colombio with her sons to set up in Miami, becoming widely known as “the Godmother.”
The New Look is the stylish new series exploring the rivalry between fashion icons Coco Chanel and Christian Dior
Starring Juliette Binoche, Glenn Close and Maisie Williams, no less.
With biopics all the rage – think Priscilla, Oppenheimer, Maestro – we are intrigued by an upcoming series about a huge real-life story from fashion history. Enter The New Look.
Starring Maisie Williams and Juliette Binoche, the Apple TV+ series takes us back to the WW2 era – showcasing the emerging force that was Christian Dior. The show explores how this affected Coco Chanel and her fashion empire, and how both designers contributed to the launch of what we can now call “modern fashion”. So for any fashion history buffs out there, it’s essentially a must-watch.
I’ve just found the perfect minimalist Valentine’s Day manicure—and I’m not about to gatekeep
If you’re a fan of subtle-yet-sweet nail designs, this one’s for you
When it comes to manicures, for me, timeless is always best. You’ll find me with short, red, square-tipped nails about 98.5% of the time. But when it comes to Valentine’s Day—aka the most romantic holiday of the year—it calls for some special effort to be made.
When I’m not sporting my go-to red, I tend to choose sheer nails and milky manis over more out-there chrome designs. And, when it comes to nail art—not one to completely scrap my deeply-ingrained manicure morals—any style I adopt has to feel chic, minimalist and specialist. So, when I saw that my favourite nail artist Julia Diogo was creating an exclusive Valentine’s Day manicure for Chanel, it’s safe to say my interest was well and truly piqued.
Forget the French bob, the Scandi bob is the coolest way to wear your hair short for 2024
Snip, snip, chop, chop
When it comes to a bob, it seems there is an infinite number of ways to wear one; your choices are truly limitless. And while we love a micro, French bob or a more natural-looking butterfly bob, another brilliant option is the Scandi bob, inspired by the chic minimalist style of our Nordic, Swedish and Danish friends.
The USP of this cut is how easy it is to style; here’s what makes it so fuss-free…
Lunar New Year 2024: Here’s why the Year of the Dragon is extra significant
The Year of the Dragon is said to bring good fortune…
The Lunar New Year, also referred to as the Chinese New Year, is an ancient celebration of spring, spirituality and rebirth. In China and in Chinese communities, the Lunar New Year is celebrated with a week-long festival of Dragon dancing, lantern shows and gift wrapped in red.
Not only does the Lunar New Year mark a time of celebration, it’s also a good opportunity to tune into your spiritual side.
Everything you need to know about breathwork for wellbeing
Why we all need to learn how to breathe properly – and how
Breathing is the most natural thing in the world: from their very first gasp, babies respire as nature intended, ribs expanding, torso rising and falling – and we continue to breathe without thinking, some 20,000 times a day. Yet while breathing remains instinctive, our ability to take our best breaths decreases as we age, and high-pressure careers, emotional turmoil, poor posture and restrictive clothing (yes, really) all take their toll.
The best hotels in Cape Town if you’re seeking some winter sun
Our edit of Cape Town hotels, from a timeless grande dame to an eye-catching converted grain store
South Africa’s most attractive city draws the crowds for so much more than just sunshine (of which, there is plenty) – the best Cape Town hotels are rather heavenly, too.
The port city is dominated by Table Mountain, with cable cars transporting anyone who doesn’t fancy the hike to the summit. From the busy harbour, you can set sail for Robben Island or stay on dry land to explore the V&A Waterfront. Away from the centre, beautiful beaches and quiet coastal hamlets await.
Oscars 2024: Where The 96th Academy Awards Are Taking Place
It’s making a return to its home of more than 20 years.
In 1953, the organisers of the event held their first ever bicoastal broadcast, airing the ceremony for the first time on television from Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre and New York’s International Theatre in Columbus Circle. The evening saw director Cecil B. DeMille take home the award for Best Picture for his film The Greatest Show on Earth.
Despite a brief jaunt in Santa Monica in 1961, at the Civic Auditorium, the ceremony settled at the Dolby Theatre, which opened in 2001, and has since seen the likes of Lord of the Rings win a staggering 11 awards and Moonlight scoop the Best Picture trophy (after that La La Land mishap).
16 Films That Make Carey Mulligan One Of The Best Actors Of Her Generation
Carey Mulligan has already cemented her status as one of the most consistently brilliant actors in the industry today. Over the past two decades, the 38-year-old Londoner has worked with quiet precision, bringing depth, complexity and intelligence to every part she takes on, from a messy lounge singer in Shame to the barnstorming lead of Promising Young Woman. Ahead of the 2024 Oscars, where she’s nominated for Best Actress for her masterful performance in Maestro, we look back at Mulligan’s formidable career through her 16 best films to date.
Robert De Niro on His Iconic Career, the ‘Great Joy’ of Fatherhood and His Future: ‘You Got to Be Ready’ (Exclusive)
The 80-year-old acting legend, who was nominated for an Oscar last month for his performance in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ tells PEOPLE about his life now
Robert De Niro is not looking in the rearview mirror because he has his eyes fixed on the road ahead.
“As things come, you don’t expect them,” he says in the new issue of PEOPLE. “You got to be ready. I’m ready to take whatever life gives me.”
That philosophy has sustained his storied career that includes two Oscar wins (for The Godfather Part II and Raging Bull), 10 collaborations with friend and director Martin Scorsese and dozens of hit films that showcase his dramatic and comedic range, from Goodfellas to Meet the Parents. (He says fans still approach him to quote his famous taunt to Ben Stiller, “I will bring you down, baby. I will bring you down to Chinatown.”)
At 80, De Niro has no desire to slow down any time soon. In his PEOPLE interview, he talks about the future, particularly his desire to continue working — “I enjoy it,” he says — and savor more time with his family, which recently expanded.
Truman Capote and Andy Warhol
Hit the Turtle Bay Health Club
In light of the recent release of Ryan Murphy’s latest installment of Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, we’ve reprinted Truman Capote’s January 1979 Interview cover feature, which came out only a few years after the fallout of his scandalous 1975 Esquire article titled, “La Côte Basque 1965”. Feud details the drama that erupted when Capote, a close friend and confidant of the glamorous New York socialities known as “the swans,” spilled the women’s darkest secrets to the press. In the feature, Andy Warhol and Bob Colacello pose the question “Is Truman Human?” as they follow Capote from his daily swim at a health club to his favorite restaurants, all while keeping up a running commentary on life, love, and decadent meals. The interview took place five years before the author’s death in 1984.
Taylor Swift threatens jet-tracking student with legal action
Jack Sweeney, 21, also tracks numerous other billionaires’ private jet usage on social media.
“We are aware of your public disputes with other high-profile individuals and your tactics in those interactions, including offering to stop your harmful behavior only in exchange for items of value,” an excerpt from one letter provided to EW reads. “While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client. Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm.”
Sweeney didn’t immediately respond for comment. However, he told the Washington Post that “This information is already out there” and that “Her team thinks they can control the world.”
‘Griselda’: Why Covering Sofía Vergara’s Eyebrows, Teeth and Nose Were Key to Her Drug Baron Transformation
According to Sofía Vergara’s makeup artist Todd McIntosh, three prominent and iconic features needed to be covered up when transforming Vergara into Griselda Blanco, also known as “The Godmother,” for her latest role in Netflix’s “Griselda“: her nose, her “white smile” and her eyebrows.
McIntosh, who worked closely with the actor, notes “Griselda was not a pretty lady. So, the idea was to take away the things that make [Vergara] pretty and to make her look average. On top of that, tell the story through traditional makeup.”

7 Bedroom Paint Color Trends to Try, From Calm Blues to Warm Reds and Yellows
We spoke to interior paint experts to learn what colors are going to be big in the bedroom this year.
Bedrooms are rarely just for sleeping anymore: They often play multiple roles as a reading room, home office, landing space, and even workout area. But using paint to define your space—whether you opt for a rich, warm color that inspires a cocoon-like atmosphere (just right for a good night’s sleep!) or create a palette of complementary hues for different functions—can make this hard-working room one of your most stylish.
All About Murano Glass, Including What It Is and How to Collect It
Also known as Venetian glass, these pieces are especially valuable if there are specks of real gold or silver swirled into them.
In the 1955 film Summertime, Katherine Hepburn’s character finds romance with Venetian antique dealer Rossano Brazzi, and it was then that American viewers fell in love with Murano glass. Today, moderately priced Murano glass goblets, tumblers, decanters, candlesticks, plates, bowls, and small art objects line the shelves of flea markets, estate sales, thrift stores, and small antique shops all over America.
“Everybody’s grandmother went to Venice and bought some,” says New York designer and collector Marjorie Reed Gordon. “Then, they put it all away to be used on some special occasion and so nothing ever got broken. That’s why there is so much around.”
This Honey-colored Italian Town Has Cobblestone Streets, an Under-the-radar Wine Scene, and Stunning Beaches Close By
Lecce is sometimes called the “Florence of the South,” but the city is so much more than that.
I recently wandered through Italy’s heel, Puglia, to pursue my version of an “eat, pray, love” summer. Determined to explore as much of the region as possible, I hopped cities and, for my final stop, I settled on a town that many call the “Florence of the South”: Lecce. For years, I had seen the sapphire waters and alluring grottos that decorate the region from afar but knew very little about the town. But the ancient golden baroque city, which often serves as a base for travelers heading to nearby towns like Ostuni and Monopoli, is worth dedicating a few days to.
